As a local, I can hardly tell the difference between well-known and lesser-knows sights cause I don’t really read any foreign guidebooks on the city.

Yet, I can tell you about several of my favourite places that are probably missing from most books and guided tours.

  1. Moscow Cathedral Mosque on Olimpiysky Avenue. Grand and most stunning, it reflects the religious diversity of Russia that is home to more than 20–25 mln Muslims - a detail that you might easily forget when visiting dozens of orthodox churches which is what you do on a typical Moscow city tour.
  2. The photo was taken on Kurban Bayram Day.
  3. Photo: Garnelis Natalya (ITAR TASS)
