Introduction

Prometheus platform will allow users to transfer the desired part of the business process to a blockchain or vice versa. Prometheus has created a fully functional MVP that allows users to connect to the database, select the data and transfer it to a blockchain. Proces can be done in a few clicks. A reverse process can also be made to move data from the blockchain to the database. Prometheus platform will enable businesses to become real early adopters of the blockchain technology.

Blockchain technology has been with us for a long time. The first work about crypto blockchain dates from 1991 and was done by Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornett. Their idea was to implement a system where it would not be possible to manipulate with timestamps in documents. The first real blockchain was conceptualized by the figure or affiliation, that has already become a myth, called Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008. In the following year, technology is used as cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

It is also the first use of blockchain technology. Today, when we discuss blockchain, the biggest topic is its mass usage, i.e. using this technology of huge potential for solving problems from the real world. Cryptocurrencies are just one type of application. The Prometheus project aims to provide a mass usage of blockchain technology in all spheres of human activities, but not through the focus on cryptocurrencies.

Our vision is to facilitate the usage of blockchain technology through product that will enable a transfer of a part of its business on blockchain, through very simple solutions and in any business activity. Although a lot of projects from a few years ago promised a mass usage of blockchain technology, Prometheus has a clear idea and vision how to achieve it, thanks to its finished product, its team consisting of university professors, developers with long-term experience, the company with long-term successful work and a few successful projects behind.

Our vision is to facilitate the usage of blockchain technology through the product that will enable a transfer of a part of the business process to a desired blockchain, affordable and efficiently.

Problem solving

The main problem of blockchain technology is its mass usage and use of technology for solving problems from the real world. Wherever there is a problem of trust between two entities, blockchain technology can help solve the problem. The main characteristic of this advanced technology is that information once written in the block cannot be changed anymore. By now the biggest usage of blockchain technology has been made through cryptocurrencies.

But, the mission of the Prometheus project is that using blockchain technology is granted to everyone who needs it but not through the focus on cryptocurrency but with a focus on a business process. As it is a case with all new technologies, the process of mass usage is very slow. The best example of slow usage of new technology might come from the car industry. Brothers Duryea invented the first motorized vehicle in 1893. But, unfortunately, the company soon went bankrupt, as they had managed to sell just 13 vehicles.

The most probable reason is a lack of infrastructure which would support such innovative technology. If we have a look at the following figure showing a cycle of new technology usage, we can easily recognize the phases the blockchain technology has been passing through and the ones it is going through now.

MVP

Prometheus has created a fully functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product) which will be the foundation of the future Prometheus platform. The mission of the MVP and the future platform is to enable users to become real adopters of the blockchain technology in the easiest possible way. Through the MVP users can transfer the desired part of the business process to the blockchain or vice-verse.

Market

Demand for blockchain technology is rising in all segments of economic activities. The rise might be best seen in demand for IBM cloud solutions used for applying blockchain applications in managing supply chains. The market of blockchain technologies in 2017 amounted to 706 million dollars. It is not such a big amount for technology being used for 10 years, but it is forecasted to amount to 60.7 billion dollars in 2024.

The mission of the Prometheus platform is to contribute to the global use of blockchain in the world. The usage is huge and Prometheus is not limited only to a particular economic sector, but its universal solutions of applying blockchain enable any company to transfer a part of its business on the blockchain. Blockchain is a distributed ledger providing advanced security to economic processes in real-time. What Internet did and meant to information in the nineties, it is now blockchain for confidential transactions. Blockchain enables all participants of the production and transport process to have a distributed and transparent ledger, instead of their private, centralized information centers and in that way, they can share the production process, which multiplicatively improves efficiency.

Main reasons for the need for blockchain are:

• need for a ledger that will be used inside and outside an organization

• need for a ledger the data cannot be deleted or altered from

• need for a ledger which is created in iterations

• need for a ledger which contains safe and verified information

• you want to exchange digital goods inside the common and shared database?

Business model

The basic aim of the Prometheus organization is the development of a business model that will be sustainable after the second year of doing business. Due to its mission and vision, the Prometheus organization has clear and defined steps on how to achieve this. Prometheus’ mission is the development of a platform that will be constantly improving according to users’ needs, and we plan to achieve this with employees who already have long-term experience in the development of blockchain applications, with their constant development and by maintaining healthy business environment.

1. Resources

Prometheus was formed from the NSWD organization. NSWD is a very successful company with headquarters in Novi Sad, Serbia. NSWD has a long-lasting and successful experience in developing internet applications and information systems. Novi Sad is known as a university town, and this gave to NSWD and is now giving to Prometheus an excellent opportunity for recruiting high-quality and extraordinary developers. NSWD consists of over 30 members, and a great part of them now works in Prometheus on developing its platform.

2. Targeted market

The need for blockchain solutions is big and it will be growing. The growth of this market for 2024 is forecasted to enormous 60,4 billion dollars, which is a really big leap from 706 million dollars from 2017. The usage of blockchain is unlimited. We witness the growth of cryptocurrencies, but it is only one of the uses of this advanced technology. Prometheus wants to direct its efforts towards business users and enable them to use blockchain technology in a simpler and a more advanced way.

The development of private blockchain can be a long-lasting and expensive process. For many companies, it will simply not be cost-effective to invest huge resources in the development of blockchain solutions which will meet their needs. We consider it to be a tremendous advantage of the Prometheus platform. Prometheus has made a solution which enables the users to integrate a part of their business with blockchain technology easily and conveniently. Now everybody has an opportunity to use the enormous advantages of blockchain technology, so they can get a great competitive advantage and to improve their business.

3. Charging the service and role of Prometheus token

Prometheus will charge its service $1 for 10,000 transactions. This refers to transactions within the Prometheus network. Respectively, users can create their private blockchains within the Prometheus network to which they will transfer their business. No additional fee is paid for transactions within the Prometheus network and this is going to be the most convenient package for our users.

4. Revenue forecast

We estimate that the PRO will have three types of clients: startups, medium-size companies, and enterprises.

• Small size companies will spend around 1,000 USD/Month and we estimate that they will be accounted for 60% of our clients.

• Medium-size companies will spend around 3,000 USD/Month and we estimate that they are accounted for 25 % of our clients.

• Enterprises will spend around 1,0000 USD/Month and we estimate that they will be counted for 15% of our clients.

• So the average client should spend around 1,500 USD/Month or 18,000 USD/Year

5. Necessary investments

Investments that are necessary for the development of the Prometheus platform amount to $530,000. This is also the amount of ICO soft cap, i.e. minimal amount required for the development of the Prometheus platform. The greatest part of expenses go to product development and it amounts to $334,000. The second biggest expense is organization operations amounting to $110,000. Next, to come are marketing costs in the amount for $56,000 and legal services in the amount of $30,000.

Technology

Prometheus platform is .Net Core-based for the integration of existing enterprise databases (relational and NoSQL) with emerging blockchain systems. It is an open source project with GNU Licence. We will host a highly optimized version of the Prometheus platform on Amazon and sell it in Software as a Service model (SaaS) for companies that do not want to develop their Cloud environment.

Use cases

University

All bigger faculties already have their information systems where they keep evidence about passed exams and issued diplomas and certificates. However, as these databases are local and in property of universities themselves, there is a possibility of abuse i.e. a possibility of registering the passed exams in the history. Using the Prometheus platform, universities will be able to export all the data about passed exams to public blockchain where the unchangeableness of data with maintaining privacy will be achieved. It is important to mention that universities will have the absolute minimum of additional work to do to obtain this.

Supply chain

There are numerous examples where the delivery of goods can be recorded through various business systems belonging to different companies. There is always a trust problem here, referring to that the goods were in a particular place at a particular time and nobody can change these data. Prometheus solves trust problem and time unchangeableness using blockchain bases.

Media Content Delivery

One of the first problems where the Prometheus platform can be applied in is solving the problems of the use of payable media contents. At the moment, when you order some content through a cable provider, the information about it is seen only in the database of that company. In the same way, companies can give wrong information about their business. Isolating a part of data (anonymous) about buying media content in public blockhain, you get a public insight that cannot be changed.

Pet heritage

The problem with pet heritage appears because it is now done through the papers that are easy to be forged. If all the data about heritage (parents of pets) were written in public blockchain, this problem would be solved. Of course, all the data would be anonymized and the structure of the blockchain database prevents changing already entered information.

Although the work on the Prometheus platform has already started, additional investments are necessary for Prometheus to get the dominant position on this still undetermined market.
