Fans have tagged it as "LEGO Minecraft" and "a dream game for anyone who grew up playing with LEGO." The formerly PC-only LEGO sandbox title LEGO Worlds has been announced to be arriving on consoles next year. While it made a big splash upon release last year, Worlds has been quietly waiting in Steam's Early Access program for a full release since June 2015. It has been receiving frequent updates, including the addition of online multiplayer this summer, a first-person camera, and a grapple gun with which to zip around. Some of the features are listed below, but like Minecraft, it doesn't offer justice to all of the things that can be done in the game. While it doesn't mention the multiplayer in the features list, there is online multiplayer in addition to local splitscreen for two players.Explore and Discover the Surprises within LEGO WorldsUncover hidden treasures in environments that range from the fun to the fantastical. Customize your characters in a wide variety of outfits and options. Play with a select number of real-life LEGO sets, taken from the Classic and current LEGO themes! Export your creations and save them to use again. Its February 2017 release coincides with Worlds' release from Early Access and into a fully-fledged game, so console players will be getting the full version with none of the rough edges of a beta. Steam players gave it an overall "very positive" aggregate rating out of almost 8,000 reviews. The game was US$14.99 for the Steam Early Access version, but players can expect a price hike for a full release. Judging by the pack-shots in the video, it looks like we can expect a physical release for this one, too. Although the exact date isn't known yet, LEGO Worlds will be available in February 2017. If you love all things LEGO, you'll be glad to know that the Wii U exclusive LEGO CITY Undercover was also recently announced to be destined for Xbox One and PS4.When Minecraft came out, I heard a lot of people describe as sort of like virtual Lego.

Now, there’s a game for which that description is even more apt: Lego Worlds, an open world building game that lets users create using virtual Lego bricks, and interact with the world as a customizable minifigure avatar. The launch trailer for the title is above, but it’s actually already available via Steam’s Early Access program; you can get in on the beta via the Steam store here, and dive into an early playable version of the game before its full-scale launch. Even the structure of the launch resembles Minecraft; developer Mojang made early versions of Minecraft available to the community far ahead of shipping the first stable version of the game, and that prototypical launch actually paved the way for the entire concept of Steam’s Early Access program. Lego Worlds is built by TT Games, which also creates the popular series of franchise-based adventure story titles for consoles and PCs. The game includes open-form brick-by-brick customizations, large-scale tools to modify entire landscapes without having to get so granular, and inclusion of pre-defined building sets for making virtual kits that more closely approximate the types of thematic sets Lego ships for its real-world building blocks.

Commercially-sold play sets will actually have in-game equivalents, in fact, and some of this will be exclusively unlocked for Early Access players, with more to ship after the proper launch. Multiplayer isn’t included in this version, but is planned for later updates.
