Keekaroo Height Right High Chair with Infant Insert - Espresso Almost ready to give your baby solids? Time for a high chair! There are plenty of high chair options to choose from, and we sell them all right here at giggle. Make sure the one you pick matches your lifestyle as well as your own personal style.Standard high chairs can be used as soon as your baby can sit upright unassisted (around six months) and often sport a tray and a recline feature. European-style high chairs don't have trays and are actually meant to be pulled right up to the table to eat with you, starting at about nine months. (Bonus: they're often multistage to grow with your baby.) Hybrid high chairs feature trays, can be used as early as six months, and tend to look more like furniture than other high chairs. And last but not but not least: portable high chairs, booster seats, and child harnesses offer travel-friendly options parents can take with them. Our Engineering Lab rated 28 high chairs on how easy they are to use, store, and clean and how well they stand up to wear and tear — and these winners came out on top.How We Tested: First we made sure chairs complied with national safety standards. Then we compared assembly time, design, seat comfort, and more. We dropped trays at least three times, and stains like pasta sauce sat for two hours before cleaning. The phil&teds lobster has changed our minds about the benefits of a good clip-on chair. We are always looking for a clean and safe alternative to the gross restaurant highchairs but don’t always want to lug around a big, bulky booster seat. If it’s a portable feeding chair that we can also take to grandma’s house, we are in love. The phil&teds lobster clip-on chair is just that. It’s an unbelievably lightweight (less than 4 lbs), flat-packing, portable clip-on chair that can be clamped to a table in seconds. This extremely travel-friendly chair sports two lobster claw clamps that can grip tables from 0.8 – 3.75 inches thick. Slide the claws onto the table, turn both handles to clamp it down…and voila, you have a safe and sturdy seat for your little one to join the rest of the family at the table.

Our little tester loves the lobster so much that he refuses to sit in his regular high chair if he catches a glimpse of the lobster. The lobster features a lightweight aluminum frame but the chair is still strong enough to hold a child up to 37 lbs. It sports a padded, 5-point safety harness to keep your little one in place and washable fabric for easy clean-up. A unique feature and one you aren’t going to find on other clip-on chairs is that it comes with a removable, dishwasher-safe food tray. We love that the tray gives our babies a clean surface to eat from but wished the tray attached to the chair a bit better. While your babies can’t lift the tray up, one little baby shove from the back of the tray will loosen the tray enough to be pushed to the floor or worse, thrown at you! Not a big deal if you don’t have a mischievous tot. Our one recommendation would be for phil&teds to give the tray a bigger lip to securely attach under the clamps to keep it put. While the lobster is great for most tables, it will not work on tables with a decorative edge because the clamps won’t have enough space to grab.

My kitchen table happens to have that edge so we choose to keep our lobster attached to the center kitchen island. The lobster works fabulously on our kitchen island countertop so that our little guy can eat breakfast and lunch with his older brother and sister. Also, we want to remind parents to be smart when using any clip-on chair and only attach it to a sturdy table. The chair will only be as stable as the table you are hooking it to. Clip-on chairs should never be attached to a pedestal table, glass table or any table that is not sturdy. One of the best features of the lobster (besides that dishwasher-safe tray and quick set-up) that makes it incredibly travel-friend is the fact that it folds down flat and into its own travel bag. And when we say flat, we mean FLAT! No more traveling with bulky boosters for us! While there is a handle on the travel bag for portability, we would suggest phil&teds add a shoulder strap so that we can swing it over our shoulder if need be. That would make it even better!
