It is EXTREMELY comfortable....blissful in fact. For some reason, it does seem to smell of something that I can't quite put my finger on....horse?....straw?....something stable-like? I'm not entirely sure but I hope it wears off soon. I'm not religious, but if it's still there at Christmas, I shall wake up in my own manger feeling very festive. Can't wait to buy another one for the guest room So comfy...having the bests nights sleep in it!! Early days for a mattress but good so far The good news is the mattress is very comfortable. The bad news is that the bed collapsed after 2 weeks. I have had to make 2 radical modifications to the bed. The first is to lower the foot board so that it is below the mattress. As delivered it was a hard point for my feet to rest on. I am 1.93M tall, and the beds I was shown seemed OK in the shop. It turned out that as I used it, that the foot board is too high. I have lowered it so it is now very comfortable. The second modification was to put in a ply cross strut (approx 30cms wide) under the frame, so that the ash wooden springs do not spread the frame so that they jump out of their sockets.
This meant that the mattress fell through the frame in the early hours of the morning. This strut also prevents the from 'parallelogramming'. The whole bed collapsed after 2 weeks of use. If i sent it back for a new bed, the same things would have happened. This bed needs a redesign along the lines that I have changed it. I am optimistic that my modified bed will now do what it says on the box. I would not advice people to buy this bed if they do not have carpentry skills. Good mattress and delivery. Very pleased with the mattress. However, more care needs to be put into the packaging. The wrapping was absolutely filthy and took my wife three attempts to clean it! You may ask why we didn't dospose of the cover immediately? We had to store for two weeks before we were in a position to use it. Well, how can I describe the luxuriousness of this bed! We wanted a boutique hotel look and that's exactly what we got. The Manhattan bedstead in natural fabric is chique and sturdy while the Owen mattress is so deep and gives us a grest night's sleep.
