A mother who overdosed last month while shopping with her two-year-old daughter will be prosecuted for child endangerment. Essex County District Attorney's office confirmed the intention to prosecute Mandy McGowan of Salem, New Hampshire following the incident in September in the Family Dollar store in Lawrence. McGowan, 36, has been placed on probation and ordered to continue with drug treatment until her case is dealt with. It is understood she took either oral heroin or a narcotic like fentanyl. Emergency responders were forced to give McGowan two doses of Narcan before she was revived.
