🔳Peter Young, (January 2, 1940) is an American painter.

He is primarily known for his abstract paintings that have been widely exhibited in the United States and in Europe since the 1960s. His work is associated with Minimal Art, Post-minimalism, and Lyrical Abstraction.

He began his career as an abstract painter in New York City during the mid-1960s.

“The best thing you can do for me as my dealer is to do nothing for me.” once he said to Richard Bellamy (american art dealer).

He has been described variously as the first post-modernist painter, as well as a minimalist and an abstract surrealist.

In Young’s work, seemingly playful constellations of circles and dots replace restrictive geometric formalism, while colorfulness and pictorial density give way to surprising sensuality and poetic momentum.
