The integrated vinyl tubing makes an excellent seal against moisture and air. With the door closed, measure the length of the doorstop on the hinge side of the door frame. Then, transfer that measurement to a length of weatherstripping. Next, draw a straight cutting line. Cut the vinyl tubing with a utility knife and the metal with a hacksaw, using a very fine 32-tooth-per-inch blade. Using a self-centering drill bit, drill pilot holes and then install the screws. When the right and left sides are in place, measure and cut the top. Attach the top piece the same way the sides. With the weatherstripping installed, you can tell just by the sound of the closing door that it's well sealed and that drafts are going to stay outside where they belong. Sealing the Bottom of a Door One of the easiest to install solutions for the bottom of an entry door is a door sweep like the one pictured here. These are available from hardward stores, home improvment centers and Amazon.
Click here to view.MASTERCRAFT doors are garbage! About five years ago my wife and I had an addition put onto our home. The builder used a MasterCraft exterior door for the entrance. It is wooden with a metal clad four panel and two lite. The lites have both completely seperated from the door allowing cold, heat, bees and any other possible invader to enter our home. I'm looking for a way to repair the door as I can't afford to replace it due to finances. If you have any ideas please share them with me. Disgusted esp if it's American-made. All 5 of our BRAND NEW mastercrap french doors leaked (seals broke on the inside)...so horribly... rain ran down into the drywall & foundation. We HATE mastercraft products. Menards does not address the situation and could care less...passes the buck to Midwest Manufacturing. I will NEVER buy Mastercraft again. Spread the word to save others pocketbooks! They look very nice but very poor quality finishes. After a few years the lead inserts in the glass started deforming and the face of the door have thin cracks. I called customer service and surprisingly they said the warranty was good for five years only for products before 2009 and they are not willing to cover those defects. We were told the warranty was for 15 years. I see that the 2009 and... I bought two doors from Home Depot and when they arrived to my home the finish was poorly done I have two dents on my door.
The doors were delivered on December 8, 2016 at Home Depot. installation day was on December the 23rd, your company indicated to me that I have a 14 days buyers remorse. From the day it was delivered to Home Depot and they cannot do nothing about the unfinished paint and the dents because I passed 14 days buyers remorse. Jeld Wen Door Warranty Brand new sliding glass door failed. I called in August 2016 to inquire about my warranty and a repair. They told me they could send someone in October 2016. When the man arrived to work on the door he said he was only there to assess the situation. He said the sliding glass door is warped; very difficult to slide it open or closed. He said he would have to order parts and then do the repair. This was supposed to have occurred in November. Jeld Wen Customer Care Jeld Wen did not reply to several emails requesting assistance in locating replacement parts for their bifold doors. Multiple Emails were sent to Customer Service via the company website submission as well as cold contact via multiple email addresses for company employees.
Each was met with a "you will be contacted with 48 hrs" response. Upon searching the web it seems that such a lack of customer assistance is the norm for this... Neither Lowe's or Jeld-Wen will stand behind the door. They want us to pay to have someone look at it. Do I need to say more. Straight from the factory. They can't even align the doors straight before they screw the hinges on. We had our sliding patio door replaced with Jeld Wen door , the new door leaks and frame is warped , called JW and had to wait a month for a sub contractor hired by JW to come look at door , he measured door and said it was square and level , and he told us the door needs to replaced. Well you guessed it GW reply was not installed properly claimed denied. Save yourself time and money get a different brand. These doors are cheap made and very... My window of 4 years began to condinsate on the inside.i called customer service and after a short wait the very nice and polite lady ask for the number etched in the corner of the window,my address and asured me i will have a new window in two weeks.
