No you can NOT use it as it's made for a door opening INTO a home. I have NEVER seen an entry door the way you describe it for a residence, only a business. I have vinyl floors. Do I need a rug and if so, what kind? No need for a rug. We use it on a wooden floor. Hi, can it be used in carpeted rooms? It cannot be used on carpeted floors because the foot-base cannot get a firm grip on the floor. The floors need to be flat and hard - wood, tile, concrete, linoleum, etc.... Does this ever jam? Issues with it getting stuck? Have no issue with sticking. Can this be used on Lever-set type of locks? If you can get the yoke of this security bar underneath the handle neck, then you're generally in business. Otherwise in my opinion, I'd have to say no. You really need another type of security set up.
I suggest that you contact your local Home Depot store and speak with one of the staff who has knowledge about this security bar. If you have double doors do you need to use two?
