Synopsis:
Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn't take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru's as well.

Naho Takamiya is the main female protagonist in Orange. When she receives a mysterious letter from the future involving Kakeru Naruse, she and her friends try their hardest to fulfill the demands of the letter.
Naho is shown to be an above average girl with shoulder length walnut hair, and large green eyes. As she grows older, her facial features stay relatively the same, but her hair is a little longer than in high school. Her height is 158cm and blood type is B.
Naho is a very loving and shy girl who tends to scream whenever she is nervous or embarrassed. She is shown to have a rather passive personality, as on multiple occasions throughout the series, Naho is unable to speak her own mind and tell people (especially Kakeru Naruse) how she feels, possibly out of fear of hurting or confusing them. Despite this, however, Naho's feelings for what she cares about are very strong and passionate, even if she doesn't show it. As she gets older, she opens up and is able to tell people her feelings straight, but still shares some of her shy and reserved traits from high school. She is also shown to be fairly oblivious to people's romantic interest towards her, as seen with Kakeru and Hiroto Suwa.

Kakeru is the main male protagonist of Orange. The series centers around him, his fate, and the efforts of his friends to fulfill the wishes of a letter from the future.
Kakeru is average height with a slim build. His hair and eyes are dark, and he usually wears the typical high school uniform issued by his school. His height is 168cm, weight is 61kg, and blood type is B.
Kakeru is initially shown to be quiet and reserved, however, once Hiroto Suwa and the others invite him to join them on their walk home and hang out with him more, he seems to open up and enjoy himself. He enjoys video games. Though he puts up a happy front around his friends and family, he hides his true feelings often and is incredibly depressed over his mother's death/suicide, in which he blames himself for it happening. As the story progresses, he finally lets some of his feelings loose to Hiroto Suwa and Naho Takamiya, though even after the incident, he seems to still believe his feelings are only a burden to others. He is also very hard on himself on a consistent basis. He claims to think about killing himself every day. He is also a skilled runner and is the fastest runner in his class.
His favourite food is curry. Weak to being touched on the neck In the future he is a science teacher.
In main timeline, he attempts suicide by getting run over by a truck, but this time he avoids it at the last minute because he became afraid to die. In alternate timeline, Kakeru dies while on his bicycle by a truck, while wondering who Naho gave the chocolate heart to.

Suwa is Naho and Kakeru's classmate and friend. He is very energetic and outgoing and he loves to hang out with his friends. He likes Naho but knows she likes Kakeru, so he supports them both. Suwa will become a very important person to her in her future, but 16-year-old Naho doesnt know yet.

Hagita is a regular student in Nagano who becomes very good friends with Kakeru. While he is not outgoing or charismatic, Hagita has a profound determination and intelligence. Hagita is a very big fan of reading manga and watching the television show 'Yuugata Get'. Later in the story, Hagita even goes as far as to buy Kakeru manga for his birthday. Throughout the story, subtle comments and interactions hint at an affection Hagita holds for Murasaka and in the future time line Hagita is married to Murasaka.
