I going to tell you about Nuclear Politics.

The first nuclear bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Five years later, USSR and USA created and launched the first Nuclear Power Plants. Since then, there is a strong anti-nuclear movement all over the world.

The movement opposes nuclear technologies, the most famous of them are Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (by the way, they created the peace symbol, it has been used for a long time as anti-nuclear symbol).

These campaigns are supported by more than half of people. Sociologists believe that it’s take place because a lot of people doesn’t see the difference between Peaceful Atom and Nuclear weapon. Also there’s increasing the use of alternative energy sources.

IV. By countries

Despite this, NPPs very common, now 31 countries exploiting them. The large numbers of NPP, more precisely 60 items, are in America, you can see this ratio on the slide. Now, all over the world there’re 191 working NPP and 499 working blocks (some sources, in particular wikipedia are calling stations as blocks).

V. Energy

The part of energy production in nuclear countries is impressive. For example, France generates up about 76% of its energy thanks to nuclear reactions. Moreover, the country doesn't need 20% of the energy, so they export it. France can stop generate any energy but nuclear energy and that’s will be enough. Russia produces 19% of all energy thanks to our NPP.

VI. Energy in the world

Now about 11% energy in the world produce by NPP and this number is growing every year. In last few years only two direction have made a leap in this industry: it is the nuclear and the renewable energies.

VII. Final

There’re 191 NPP in the world, and also 60 NPP under construction. 34 from them will be build by Rosatom (8 in our country, 26 abroad), so we are the leader in this sphere.
