They also went with the name Nike in 1971, aptly deriving from the name of the Greek goddess of victory. The logo was designed by graphic designer Carolyn Davidson. At that time, she was still a graphic design student in Portland State University. This campaign launched in 1988 was also selected as the top two taglines in the 20 century by the Age, calling it “universal and intensely personal”.
