A San Diego federal grand jury accused BitConnect project founder Satish Kumbhani of fraud worth $2.4 billion using the Ponzi scheme. This was reported by the US Department of Justice.

According to court documents, Kumbhani, along with accomplices, promised investors a significant guaranteed yield through trading in the volatile cryptocurrency market.

The project BitConnect worked according to the Ponzi scheme, paying earlier depositors the money of later participants in the project, the indictment says. In total, Kumbhani and accomplices allegedly received about $2.4 billion from investors.
