The German version was released first, then the following day the US version. So now we have a chance to see all the new sets coming in the first half of 2016. Below I have selected some of the most interesting pages, and you can also find the PDF version of the catalog at LEGO’s website. ➡ 2016 LEGO MIXELS: LEGO Mixels continues to be a fun collectible theme with wacky characters and great parts selection. The MCPD is the police tribe, the Medievals resemble castles, and the Mixies are musical instruments. The amount of creativity that goes into these characters is so delightful! See the currently available sets at the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO FRIENDS: LEGO Friends are going camping! That giant #41122 LEGO Friends Adventure Camp Tree House is very impressive. T

here is also a #41118 LEGO Friends Supermarket with a wonderful array of great elements, including a watermelon! The #41119 LEGO Friends Heartlake Cupcake Cafe is also very nice. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO ELVES: LEGO Elves continues to be a very impressive theme with beautiful sets in great colors. And this time we get dragons too! In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful LEGO themes ever created, and it is without conflict and guns. See currently available sets at the LEGO Elves section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO CITY: There are a number of new LEGO City sets coming next year, but the one new subtheme that stands out the most is LEGO City Prison Island – a new twist on the LEGO City Police sub-theme. The sets look great, and there is even a hot air-balloon with a new color-scheme! See the currently available sets at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO SUPER HEROES: We talked about the new LEGO DC Comics and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets yesterday (see link at the end of this post), but for convenience I will list them here again. T

he LEGO Super Heroes Mighty Macros are going to be great collectibles, and check out that giant brick-built Ant-Man in the #76051 LEGO Super Heroes Airport Battle set! 2016 is going to be a great year for LEGO Super Heroes fans! Some of the 2016 sets are already listed at the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO SPEED CHAMPIONS: LEGO Speed Champions is continuing with a new wave of minifigure-size race-cars. While the design of the cars is not entirely accurate because of the small scale, but they still look great and many people collect them. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Speed Champions section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO BIONICLE: The re-launched LEGO Bionicle line continues with a large array of new sets. The #71310 LEGO Bionicle Umarak the Hunter is particularly impressive. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Bionicle section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS: We have talked about this new theme extensively (see link at the end of this post), so I won’t repeat the information here, but I will include one picture highlighting the most iconic set in this theme, the #70317 LEGO Nexo Knights The Fortex. T

he new sets are already listed at the LEGO Nexo Knights section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO NINJAGO: Ninjago is another theme that continues with a strong storyline and great sets. We have discussed them the other day (see link at the end of this post), so I will just include one picture of the new sets. S ➡ 2016 LEGO MINECRAFT: Four new sets are coming in the LEGO Minecraft line; the #21123 LEGO Minecraft The Iron Golem, the #21124 LEGO Minecraft The End Portal, the #21125 LEGO Minecraft The Jungle Tree House, and the #21126 LEGO Minecraft The Wither. This theme is obviously in demand, as LEGO continuing to release new sets. With all the new characters coming, Minecraft fans should be very happy. S ➡ 2016 LEGO STAR WARS: Star Wars is of course huge with LEGO, and with the new film out, it will likely be even more popular. There is a new wave of LEGO Star Wars Microfighters, large buildable action figures, as well as several other new sets. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

➡ 2016 LEGO TECHNIC: Several of the 2016 LEGO Technic sets have already been released, but there is more coming, like the #42052 LEGO Technic Heavy Lift Helicopter pictures below. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Technic section of the Online LEGO Shop. ➡ 2016 LEGO ARCHITECTURE: There is a fresh new line of sets coming in LEGO Architecture, reproducing some of the most spectacular skylines of the world. It is called the LEGO Architecture Skyline Collection with three sets featuring New York City, Berlin and Venice. They all look excellent. S So what do you think? How do you like the new sets coming in 2016? Which one(s) are you looking forward to the most? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉Though Lego‘s Marvel Super Hero sets aren’t always focused directly on the films, the frequency with which Marvel movies are released has at least in some ways influenced a great majority of sets over the past few years. There have been some smaller ventures as of late, with Miles Morales getting his own Spider-Man set for example, but for the most part, if you’re not a movie Avenger or part of the MCU, you’ve been out of luck.

Today, that luck changes for one of Marvel’s brightest stars. Announced as part of a new vehicle set (via ToyArk), Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, will finally join the Lego Marvel army, and she didn’t have to wait for a movie to get the opportunity. “The Avenjet Space Mission” is one of two new sets Lego revealed as part of the Marvel Super Heroes line, with Star Wars also getting some love with another two sets. That’s all fine and good, but we all know it’s Captain Marvel that’s the most surprising and welcome reveal of the day. Who even likes a star war anyway? The Avenjet Space Mission will pit three Avengers (Captain Marvel, Captain America and Iron Man) against Thanos and, for reasons we likely will never know, Hyperion. Pretty sure he’s one of the good guys, but there are a few versions of that guy floating around the multiverse, so you can never be too sure. Thanos never got his chance to shine in the Guardians of the Galaxy sets, and this riff on 2013’s “Infinity” event lets you live out your wildest tyrannical despot dreams.

Unless you like good guys. Iron Skull Sub Attack is the other Marvel Super Heroes set, and in it you’ll find Iron Man, Captain America, a HYDRA soldier and the Avengers Assemble animated series’ Iron Skull. It’s not a bad set, but it’s definitely grim. That submarine doesn’t look like anything I’d like to encounter underwater, even if I was Captain America. That these sets are now bouncing around to more of Marvel’s properties is cool to see though, and perhaps some more Avengers Assemble-themed content could come down the line. Of the two new Star Wars sets, the Carbon Freezing Chamber is my early front-runner for must-have Star Wars set of 2016. Sadly there’s no Leia included for me to act out the pivotal scene where she falls into the Carbon Freezing station and Darth Vader tells her he’s her father. You do get an Ugnaught though, which is fantastic for all three people who actually care about Ugnaughts. Hoth Attack is a simple set, and while it does look nice, doesn’t offer quite as much cool factor as the chamber.
