Red Castle Cocoonababy Nest ReviewRating  Buyfrom Amazon2016 Shortlisted Best Sleep Product2014 Shortlisted Best Sleep ProductRed Castle’s Cocoonababy Nest is a comfortable alternative to a Moses basket (or crib) – for naps during the day and to use as an impromptue baby seat. It’s lightweight and easily portable. The nest is great for babies with reflux and is ideal for parents who favour co-sleeping. It’s also soft and safe, securing baby with a sturdy middle strap. The nest is recommended for use up to four months and although useful, is expensive (unaffordable, even) for something that is used for such a short time. Tested by mum Jane Hobday for the M&B Awards 2016:Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?I liked the design of this product - it looks cosy for baby and the idea behind it is good - to help support baby's position and relieve any strain on the babies head to prevent flat head syndrome. The strap was an important addition to give peace of mind that baby wouldn't roll out of it.

The cover comes off to enable washing and the foam support that sits behind the legs is adjustable so that it grows with the baby. How does this product make your life easier as a mum?It was useful to take to the grandparents’ and know that I had somewhere safe to lay baby to sleep. It’s so light and transportable that I could take it into our kitchen while I did some jobs and let baby sleep in comfort. It’s a handy product to have to ensure baby is comfortable and safe.If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?I do think the product is quite highly priced for what it is. Although it looks really nice, it is really just a cleverly designed piece of foam so I do think that the price would put a lot of people off.Tested by mum Karen Rutherford for the M&B Awards 2016:Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum? This is a comfortable sinking support for newborns. Baby settles really well on the support. Great for babies who won't sleep in a Moses basket or cot.

Easy to carry to place to place and grandparents’ houses for example. Wipes clean really well even with a baby wipe. Our baby wouldn't settle on anyone but me, apart form on the Cocoonababy. We really loved that it enabled us to get some sleep! Fits so well in the cot or even as a support on the floor. It's a little big to put in the Moses basket but fits really well in the cot.Read more sleep product reviewsWe're sorry, but we could not fulfill your request for /moms/Baby-Nests-Like-DockaTot-Cocoonababy-42997738 on this server. And you may have wondered exactly what those words meant – after all, aren’t all babies supposed to sleep on their backs now? Well, yes – but that’s exactly why tummy time is so important. Allow us to explain. Tummy time is essentially allowing your tot to spend time lying on their stomach while they’re awake. Because doctors now recommend that all babies sleep on their backs, to reduce the risk of SIDS, tummy time is more important than ever. One of the consequences of babies always sleeping on their backs – although it’s the safest way – is that they tend to be slower to develop gross motor skills that allow them to sit up, push up, roll over and crawl. Some babies even develop flat spots on the back of their heads, known as ‘plagiocephaly’ or ‘flat head syndrome’. So doctors now recommend that babies – from as young as one day old! – spend time on their tummies every single day. When to practise tummy time It’s never too early to start tummy time – in fact, most doctors recommend you begin placing your tot on his belly for a few minutes every day from the day you get home from hospital.

For the first few weeks, and only when your baby is awake and alert, try placing your him on his stomach on a hard surface, such as the floor, for just two to three minutes at a time, several times a day. Slowly increase this amount until your baby is spending 15 uninterrupted minutes each day on their tummy. It’s important that your tot is comfortable during tummy time. Don’t place them on their stomach if they’ve just eaten, or if they’re hungry (around 30 minutes to an hour after feeding is best). Do tummy time when your baby is feeling settled – putting your tot down while they’re crying will only enforce a negative association with the practise! How to get the most out of tummy time Some moms say that their baby doesn’t like tummy time, but it’s important to persist, even if your baby fusses. Some ways to encourage your baby to love tummy time include: Getting down there with him. Lie on the floor on your tummy, opposite your baby. Talk to him, sing, read a book or show him toys.

A firm, rolled-up towel underneath your baby may help them feel more comfortable. Try laying her on your tummy – you can do this in the bath, too, if that helps your tot. Give your baby something to do when she’s on the floor. Place a board book in front of her, or perhaps some soft toys or even a mirror.
