Good thoughts and aspirations start from how we live our life at home. The Lounge Chair is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. It was designed to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology that was pioneered in the '40s. The vision was a chair with the "warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." The result has become the consummate lounge set, timelessly blending old-fashioned comfort and visionary modernism. Pairing soft, inviting leather with the sleek form of molded plywood, the seat is balanced on a five-star, die-cast steel base. 3.7 out of 5 stars This item must be shipped separately from other items in your order. Don't get this one!UPDATE 2: the seller "Tangkula" offered a $30 rebate and a partial resolution in 30 days ... for a $600 chair that came in damaged and literally broke in half within 3 days ...

The base of the chair just snapped when I stood up, scratching the wooden bottom and the metal base. And I am only 155 lbs. Makes my "is it safe" comment below seem prescient.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I just received the chair, it came in a box marked "Costway" and with part number HW51511. When I called the 800 number for Costway, they had my order in their system, so I am assuming that the seller "Tangkula" I bought it from is actually them (but it could be a reseller / drop-ship situation as well). The shipping box is huge and heavy, it would not fit through my office door, so it will be a pain to return it if that is the resolution.Bottom line, the chair is poorly assembled. The details are below and in the pictures / videos.- Someone wrote the number 105 on the ottoman. I am not sure if I can clean it off. (see photo IMG_4249)- The screw attaching one of the armrest is stripped, so there is a lot of "play" in that armrest.- The moving armrest caused a tear in the leather underneath during transport (see photo IMG_4251)- The base of the chair is loose, it causes the entire chair to rock (see video) Same thing for the ottoman.

And I do not mean a gentle rock "by design", I mean a "is this safe" kind of a wobble when someone sits in it the first time.- The headrest is loosely attached, causing it to move (see video). Again, this is not by design but the result of poor workmanship. If you ignore those issues, the chair itself is not super comfortable. I am 5'10" and if I want head support, I have to slide my butt forward, and then need a lumbar pillow. I don't remember the same issue when I sat in an original version of the chair. The cushion is pretty hard, I don't get the feeling it will mellow with age.The materials used, leather, wood etc, are otherwise ok, what you would expect from corporate furniture in the reception lobby of a not too fancy business. When you start inspecting it closely, you find spots, nicks, and discolorations. So yes, it is 90% less than the original, but it is frustrating that the manufacturing and QC was not better.I contacted Costway yesterday, I have not heard back what they are willing to do, but I am really dreading handling the 80lbs / 33"x33"x30" box down the stairs.
