Browse the varied results of the imaginations of our builders. Northwest Woodworkers Gallery was established in 1980 to support the profession of independent studio furniture. Our goal is to bring good design and craftsmanship to the forefront. Woods are selected deliberately with designs both beautiful and purposeful. We strive to create works of art that you can use, enjoy, and pass down. We, the artist-owners of Northwest Woodworkers Gallery, believe art and design should not be the sole domain of museums. Our furniture should be caressed and thumped; sat on and eaten at; scratched, polished and handed down to the next generation. We create art with purpose.

Elemental approach, passion for detail, modern sensibility. Over the years, we've created a line of wood furniture that represents our aesthetics. The collection combine simple profiles and clean lines that yield a distinctive northwest character, at home in a broad range of interiors. Design is the core of our creative process, shaping our ideas and our living space. We create timeless works of wood furniture - from dining and coffee tables, to accent pieces, benches and more - that elevate the room. Our modern roots collection of solid wood furniture delivers classic staples that provide warmth and elegance, regardless of style. Peruse our furniture collection or take a look at our custom conference tables for inspiration. who we are / why wood / news & events / contact us made-to-order in the USA Our wood furniture is 100% made in the USA from locally sourced wood and metal. Just as buying local, organic food is better than buying food that is shipped from far away, using local materials for furniture has cascading positive effect.

By purchasing products made in the Northwest, our customers are supporting local businesses and their employees. Our reclaimed wood products are built by skilled American craftsmen with best local materials available. Each table is made-to-order and may be customized to your specification, or you may choose from our line of standards, all of which are suitable for residential, institutional and commercial application. who we are / why wood / news & events / contact us site & urban salvaged wood In 2001, a USDA study estimated that nearly four billion usable board feet of material are culled from urban areas in the United States each year. Most of this material is considered part of the waste stream and is burned as fire-wood or chipped for mulch. Though attitudes are beginning to change, fallen trees in urban ares remain an undervalued resource. Meyer Wells is on the forefront of a growing movement to make better use of urban trees. With our own local mill, we have reclaimed thousands of logs from the greater Seattle area and transformed them into world class wood furniture and products for local, national and international projects.

It's the core of why we do what we do and dictates how we dot it. We only use salvaged, reclaimed or responsibly harvested wood within a 100 mile radius of our mill located just outside of Seattle and work with local, small forest land owners and family farms. We use only low VOC and HAPs free finishing products, which deliver high quality, ecologically sound results and a safe environment for our employees. And our wood products may contribute toward US Green Building Council's LEED credit in categories such as Regional Materials, Certified Wood, Low-Emitting Materials and Innovation in Design.  With over 30,000 square feet of production space and and our mill and kiln-drying system capable of drying 15,000 board feet of lumber at a time, we are fully equipped to handle large scale roll-outs and contracts.

From early on, we built our company to handle large scale production contracts, to work with retail and local giants who share our passion for sustainable practices and green materials. Over the years, we've had some amazing opportunities to fine tune our ability to scale. For example, we have fabricated over 400 pieces for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation visitor center and our collaboration with Starbucks has resulted in installation across the country.  Sometimes quality is embedded is the process, unapparent at first glance, but instead, seen over the life of a product. Unlike plastic or metal, wood has life of it own - shrinking or expanding in reaction to the environment - even after it has been felled. All the wood we salvage is kiln-dried to exacting standard based on the humidity and atmosphere of the piece's final destination. Sure it takes longer and means more work for us, but it also guarantees that the moisture content will be stable for the environment. We also design and craft our wood furniture using method that allow for the natural movement of the wood.

These stringent requirements give us the confidence that our products will stand the test of time.  The wood products you see in our catalogs and on our site are only the tip of the creative iceberg. Our portfolio, like our pieces, is organic - fluid, flexible and full of potential. We have crafted countless unique wood furniture pieces collaborating with local artisans and client design teams. Several began as a limited series but were so well received they became integral fixtures of standard roll-outs. From concept to mock-ups to finished products, we bring our wealth of wood knowledge to the table so to speak. It all starts with a dialogue.Visit our design partnership page for more information. who we are / why wood / news & events / contact us reclaimed wood: our story After working together in the early stages of the rediscovered wood movement, master craftsman Seth Meyer and furniture designer John Wells launched Meyer Wells in 2006. The two designer-craftsmen established Meyer Wells to combine a modern design sensibility and high level of furniture craft with an ecological ethic for sourcing materials.
