Milda Skomskytė

Milda Skomskytė

A girl from the Internet.

Milda Skomskytė is a girl from the Internet, nicknamed mildziux (a cute Lithuanian nickname). Around the year 2003, she had searched for a pen pal on the 21st Century Planning room [1]. I've got to know her there. You can find her own self-introduction of the time on Blogger [2].

She has a family of a younger brother, older sister, her parents, and also, she had her good friend Majo. The first thing she mentioned to me when we met on-line, is her invaluable collection of Kisekae game dolls.

Once upon a time I accidentally met her again on the Internet, on DeviantArt [3], and later yet on LiveJournal [4][5], where I've got to know her friend Majo, who became my girlfriend, and so, we eventually met a couple of times.

Milda had shared her personal paper notes with me with her drawings and reflections from the school life. It all made an impression of an artistic and thoughtful person with a different perspective on life and experiences. It looked as if she always wanted to look at the world through a different lens than anyone else ¯\(o_º)/¯, and that made me really interested, cause some would say that I also have a non-standard world view.

Views on Family

Once upon a time, when we were going back to her home in Lazdynai, we had exchanged our views on family. She had pointed out that she would love to live in a commune rather than a traditional family. I share the view.

Interest in History

I had asked her once what does she do in her free time. She mentioned that she loves reading the Lithuanian history. She mentioned somewhere that her family had Jewish blood lines. It is no surprise, I guess, her last name kind of reminds "Chomsky". However, I had never had a very strong interest in history myself, and I wondered, why would she be interested in it, what would she like to discover? That's one of the things that I would like to ask her, if we were in touch.

Interest in Arts, Literature & Anime

Milda is very skilled in drawing anime. There are many of her drawings are on DeviantArt [3]. However, she chose to study literature as her major. You can find her profile on Academia.edu [6]. She is able to connect the seemingly unconnected things from scientific theories and history to intimate qualia.

University Studies

During her studies in Vilnius university, faculty of philology, she had went to study in Germany as an exchange student. I had contacted with her while during her studies a few times (incidentally, I was in the U.S. at the time). She mentioned that she was having fun, and good time.

Personal Life

As far as I know, she had had one boyfriend, nicknamed agurkas, and I'm not sure about her later life.

Discovering Self

When I talked with her lately around 2012, and asked, what kind of movie she liked recently, she said, it is the "Yes Man," which she had watched while being completely intoxicated together with a friend, and therefore doesn't remember much of the movie content, but said that this movie best describes her current world view - `say "Yes" to everything - is how we should live`.

She said, it's the time of her life when she is trying to discover her own self, and is partying together with diverse friends of all kind of walks of life for that reason.

Later, I had too watched the movie "Yes Man" (not being intoxicated). My take-away was that the leader in the movie later said that saying 'Yes' is only a way to get you started, and we should say "Yes" only to the things that we truly want.
