TYLER, Texas (KETK) - UT Tyler officials confirmed the identity of a professor who was found dead on their campus Wednesday night. Tyler police said the body was found on campus, inside a vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate Dr. Ron Livingston died from natural causes."I saw him yesterday before his 4 o'clock class," said Dr. Paula Lundberg- Love, UT Tyler Professor of Psychology. "We were joking and laughing, talking about our football and fantasy football withdrawal."Dr. Lundberg-Love was chair for the search committee who found Dr. Livingston and her office was right next to his. The last words he said to her were "Have a good class."

"Ronnie was one of the most positive people I've ever known," she said. A leader in Psychology, Dr. Livingston published many books and articles."He wrote the book they used in the classroom. He was a hard worker and a consistent worker and that's what I learned from him is consistency is key," said Dr. Andrew Schmitt, UT Tyler Professor of Psychology. We were a good match. I'm a fair writer, but he taught me how to write research."To some of his students, he was more than just their teacher. "He was our anchor. His door was always open to his students," said Amy Jane Hagan-Kizzia. "He gave us guidance and wisdom. His passion for psychology and teaching were unsurpassed. He was a humble and gentle man and I'm so blessed to have been touched by his brilliance." Hagan-Kizzia was Dr. Livingston's student for two years and his teaching assistant for three. "We got sort of close when I would come in his office and be like 'help me with all this stuff that I don't know what I'm doing,'" laughed psychology major Kacey Hunkins, "He was amazing and we're going to miss him."
