Thanksgiving Day newspaper inserts touting their once-a-year doorbusters used to be locked away until just before delivery. But then some of their Black Friday ads were "leaked," either accidentally or intentionally, prompting a frenzy among retail websites to trumpet which big-box stores were going to have the deepest discounts.
Now that the battle for holiday shoppers has spilled over into Thanksgiving, most Black Friday promotions are revealed by retailers themselves as they still try to persuade shoppers to visit their stores first.
