I thought firm would be best for my bad back, but alas I need more cushioning. It is called "memory foam" not "miracle foam" and with crook shoulders, hips knees and suspect back that is what we need, however, I am convinced that I sleep more restful and wake up less invalidic (not sure there is such a word but there should be) and seem to take less time to get mobile
