We carry all of Murray Feiss and Ashley Furniture lighting products. THERE ARE PRODUCTS COMING ONTO OUR SHOWROOM DAILY SO THE BEST IDEA IS TO VISIT THE SHOWROOM AND SEE WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER!TORONTO – Casper, a foam mattress that compresses into a box the size of a bar fridge, has conjured up jokes about fitting clowns into tiny cars and spawned a viral video craze showcasing customer “unboxings.” But like Dollar Shave Club and Warby Parker’s direct-to-consumer successes in razors and prescription glasses, the New York-based startup makes a debut in Canada Wednesday with a clear goal of disrupting the traditional model of mattress retailing dominated by Sears and Sleep Country. Casper, which launched in the United States in April, sold out its of its initial inventory in a week and hit sales of US$1-million after 28 days in business. The company has since raised US$15-million in venture capital from a variety of institutional and celebrity investors, including Ashton Kutcher and basketball star Steve Nash.

“Our plan was to expand into Canada in 2015, but we had an overwhelming amount of interest from Canadians asking if we could ship it to them, so we’re starting now,” Casper co-founder and chief executive Philip Krim said in an interview. Ranging in price on six sizes from $650 for a Twin to $1,150 for a King, Casper is not the cheapest mattress on the market, but those made with similar materials retail for about three times the price. The packaging hook is gimmicky but practical. mattresses arrive in a box that measures 104 centimetres by 53 cm by 50 cm, making it an easier delivery than most furniture items to condo dwellers in big cities. , the online razor blade company that launched in 2011 with an irreverent viral video and now ships US$7-million worth of razor blades and grooming products to online customers each month. Like Dollar Shave and razors, Casper appeals to those annoyed by the paradox of too much choice in the mattress category — Innerspring or pocket coil?

Firm, medium or plush? Casper sells just one mattress in differing sizes with one descriptor, “medium-firm.” The partners behind Casper founded the business with a desire to subvert the old-school business model of mattress manufacturing and retailing, which at best can be described as confusing for customers. Mr. Krim prefers the adjective “duopolistic:” Tempur Sealy International, Inc. and Serta Simmons Holdings LLC control north of 70% of all manufacturing in North America, selling a variety of mattress brands including Serta, Simmons, iComfort, Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Optimum and Stearns & Foster. In Canada, the retail mattress business is dominated by Sleep Country and Sears, and it’s impossible for consumers to do one-to-one price comparisons between the sales channels because they all carry slightly different product lines from the manufacturers. “The only way to know if a bed is right is to sleep on it, and that usually takes many nights,” Mr. Krim contends.
