So, what is Memory Foam? Memory foam is polyurethane open celled-structure foam that reacts to body heat and weight by moulding to the shape of the sleepers body, helping relieve pressure points, preventing pressure sores etc. Generally, higher density memory foam will have better compression and this will outlast softer low density memory foams. Higher density foam is far better quality, more pressure relieving support and will last longer. Higher density memory foam is naturally more expensive due to the increased level of raw material used in manufacture and a more prolonged, sophisticated production process. Originally highly expensive memory foam was limited to smaller items such as moulded helmets and medical cushions. Progressively as it has become less expensive and benefits further recognised, memory foam started to be used increasingly in mattresses at the higher end of the market.
