There's a lot of misinformation out there on how to pack and ship your memory foam mattress, specifically: A memory foam mattress MUST be shipped flat. Well my friends, I found out that that is NOT necessarily true. After reading many posts on this forum, and also various moving websites, I was convinced that I would have to get rid of my precious precious Sealey True Form memory foam mattress. In desperation, I did something crazy, I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER!!! I know, wild right? The nice lady on the phone says to me "cry not Child, you can ship that sucker on its side!!" Waves of joy crash through me. She assures me that it is true. She says that as long as it is not stored on its side for more than a couple weeks, is NO PROBLEM.
Folks we are talking over a foot of solid memory foam here. She says it could shift if it's left in long term storage, but a couple of weeks on its side won't matter. This whole "ship flat" thing must be a rumor created by nefarious moving companies. Either that, or people looking to buy dirt cheap slightly used memory foam mattress on Craigslist. Either way, I'm not falling for it.
