If using bed frame for a Memory Foam mattress is it better to have a solid, contiguous resting surface (cut to size plywood) versus bare wire base? This frame is designed to be used with a memory foam mattress. Use it as it comes from the box. If you use plywood or other flat surface on the frame, your mattress will slip and slide. The wire grid prevents mattress slide, keeps bedding securely tucked in and safely supports the mattress without damage. My husband and I are very happy with this frame. It will support 2400 pounds of weight. unpacks and is ready to use in about 5 minutes. All you need to do it pull it out of the box, unfold it, attach the 2 wing nuts to the head and foot ends of the center posts. Put on your mattress and bedding. The queen frame weights between 30 and 35 pounds. The delivery box was 12-15 inches deep. You can easily carry the entire boxed frame up the narrowest stairwells. The box was size of a twin mattress folded in half, end to end. We give this product 5 stars for strength, ease of set-up, no mattress slide.

You made me work for this one, you may owe me lunch sometime, LOL.The frame is structured as two frames similar to a twin bed that bot together to form the queen base. Each separate piece is 29 3/4 inches wide. When bolted together with the included bumper/spacer, the total width is 60 inches. The length is 80". I measured from the outside of the top rail for these measurements. Mine also measure 13 3/4 floor to top and 12 3/4 from floor to underside of top rail. So the mattress will b3 13 3/4 in off the floor but for under bed storage, also accounting for some sag into the carpet padding, a box can be 12 /12 and clear the underside of the rail. There are some diagonal braces that do limit under frame storage. See all 11 answers Can I use this bed frame with risers? See all 2 answers The picture shows that you can basically put this inside of a bed to use as a box spring/base... has anyone tried to use it this way? That's exactly how I used it! I have a frame (headboard/footboard/side-rails) and set this inside of it so I could use one of those foam deals as a mattress. It fit perfectly inside and the pair of foam pads (about the same thickness as a normal mattress) worked out just as you would hope. As a side note, howeve…As a side note, however, my son is very autistic and loves jumping on the bed. Unfortunately, with his size and strength, one of the cross-rails broke. It eliminates the need for both the box spring which was too large to fit up the stair case due to an awkward slant and the traditional metal frames/wood slats that would normally support the box spring and mattress. What we essentially have is a queen sleigh bed, with this product sitting inside it, and the mattress on top. what are the shipping dimensions? on May 20, 2015 See all 4 answers Jump to: navigation, search Sleigh bed (c. 1820/1830) in the Helgoland room, Museum Langes Tannen, Uetersen, Germany A sleigh bed is a style of bed with curved or scrolled foot and headboards, thus resembling a sled or sleigh.
