The City of Keene Recycling Center now offers mixed construction & demolition material recycling at our construction & demolition material facility located adjacent to the Keene Recycling Center on Route 12 North. Clean, painted wood (NO pressure treated wood) pallets, sheetrock, porcelain, reinforced and nonreinforced concrete, concrete blocks, mortar, cement, brick, sand or rock will be accepted in a specially designated rolloff container at $105 per ton. This represents a significant savings versus the tipping fee at the transfer station (currently $126 per ton). The construction & demolition material will be recycled into a variety of products at a facility in Epping, New Hampshire. An attendant will oversee any deliveries to assure compliance with our specifications. Any deliveries that contain material other than the material specified will be charged $126 per ton for the entire load delivered Inner spring mattresses & boxsprings are taken at the Transfer Station. There is a flat fee of $20.00 each for mattresses and $2.50 each for boxsprings.
Futon type mattressses are handled as household refuse which will be charged at $0.10/lb. Residents can purchase compost bins at wholesale prices at the Keene Recycling Center. Good quality paints, stains, cleaning and automotive products are available free of charge.

Used motor oil and transmission fluid is acceptable for drop off during Household Hazardous Waste collection days. Passenger car tires, $2.00 each off the rim, $5.00 on the rim, truck tires $5.50 each (price varies according to size).(a) No ashes, paper or other refuse shall be transported through the public streets unless such material shall be covered.(b) All such refuse collected and carried through the streets, squares or highways shall be put and carried in a closed covered vehicle, box, or other tight container from which no odors can escape and which shall at all times, when not necessarily open for the purpose of depositing the material collected therein, be kept securely covered. If any of the contents is spilled or falls upon the street, walk or premises, it shall be the duty of the collector to remove the contents immediately and also all traces thereof.
