Mattress Warehouse Reviews Filter Filter 43 Employee Reviews Popular Rating Date Jan 8, 2017 I worked at Mattress Warehouse full-time (More than 5 years) Pros Challenging and professional work environment. Great mentors and opportunities for earning top dollar in the industry. Family owned company that treats it's employees as important parts of the team. Cons Requires long hours and a serious commitment to investing in yourself. Most definitely not for everyone. Advice to Management Keep up the great work! Focus on insuring employees receive consistent matching messages from leaders. Nov 4, 2016 I worked at Mattress Warehouse full-time (Less than a year) Pros a job, clear $7.25 a hour, week days off Cons $10.80 a hour as manager work by yourself 930 am till 9pm 5 days a week, work every holiday 12 hours , must take garbage home with you, wash windows yourself, bad mold in stores dis manager did not fix ever, 3 non paid holidays, jury duty not paid, drove 4.5 hours to training each way , no payment for that.

commistion starts at zero so if you make 600 dollars you break even, you can have 900 one week 300 the next and break even. But it so slow you will only make 10.80 a hour minus medical so look at clearing $400 a week for 55 hours, It is great for someone who does not want a life, work 11.5 hours a day and add in driving to the store. What is a manager if its only you sitting in a store by yourself for 11.5 hours a day, so i wish them a nice long cold winter, unless the mold gets them first Advice to Management keep taking money away from workers, and enjoy thanksgiving with your money as you cant even pay for one holiday day off for the workers who put all that money in your pockets Sep 25, 2016 I worked at Mattress Warehouse full-time Pros Good people to work with. Cons Really long hours, must be really careful to warch your commission statement for errors. Advice to Management Take better care of your people and realize that shops should be used as a training tool not a reason to terminate people.

Also, get your DMs to stop giving there buddies preferred treatment. The community relies on everyone sharing – Add Anonymous Review Jun 3, 2016 I have been working at Mattress Warehouse full-time (More than a year) Pros Benifits are affordable , don't open till 10. Customers are great , co workers are fun to work with . Discounts on beds Cons As a manager you really have no control of the store . You can't even call customer service. This must be done by your district manager. You only have the title of manager so when sales are down they have someone to blame because God knows it's never their fault . Lack of advertising to bring customers to store . Advice to Management Give store managers more control and stop micro managing Jun 8, 2016 I worked at Mattress Warehouse (Less than a year) Pros They pay a decent salary Cons You manage the store with poor equipment. Computer systems are way to slow. They over exaggerate sales expectations with promise of commissions. Some rare few have met that expectation for sales to get the bonus commission out of all the states the company operates in and the company had denied them thier bonus.

Sales instructor attemted to demonstrate the sales tactics to use. Needless to say the customer ran out and called the cops. Advice to Management Setand inform realistic goals and expectations for your new hires and employees. You haven't sold a thing personally in 10+ years... get back in touch with your consumers expect and want. Dont send your consumers running and calling 911. Jun 4, 2016 I worked at Mattress Warehouse full-time (More than 3 years) Pros There are no pros for this company Cons Long hours little pay, treated like dirt. Advice to Management Stop hiring the most desperate people, as well as pay more then you would have some quality people working yhere May 21, 2016 I worked at Mattress Warehouse full-time (More than 5 years) Pros A lot of time to read and sleep, great job if you like being alone. Most co-workers are decent to deal with Cons Where to start, too many stores to close together, no real advertising to speak of leads to many a boring day. District managers who micro manage, corporate office is a joke, customer service is non-existent all this leads to customers screaming at you or something you have no control over.

A long boring 55 hour week being alone in a store, you're not supposed to leave but people always do. It's a great place to work if you don't want a life Advice to Management Treat your employees like human beings, keep stock in the warehouse. Update your computer systems. Stop screwing the customers May 15, 2016 Pros Limited ability to exercise judgment as to sales on the floor. Lip service to other management duties as most managerial duties assigned, such as opening and closing stores are closely monitored by management, by video and voice recording, and security time logs. Cons Lack of sincere interest in employee needs tor special time off for personal reasons. Lack of interest given to employee issues that affect their lives, and impact overall quality of the employees performance. Company DMs are small dictators that operate with semi autonomous power to move employees, not sales managers around to different stores at will, not to assist the employees with broadening their experience, but, more to please the DM's whims or to punish questioning employees that discover poor management practices.

This amounts to employee harassment and calculated efforts to force employees to resign or seek other employment. Advice to Management Become aware of these practices, or loose a lot of trained employees to poor local District Managers that become potentates in their fiefdoms. It amounts to a dictatorship fundamentally, and employees managed by fear, rather than through open and transparent good business management practices. These shortcuts in management will end the company eventually when sales personnel jump ship and leave the company with no quality and experienced managers or sales personnel in stores. Offers nothing but a bad reputation to prospective employees also that talk to current employees. Some particular stores with low sales reputations because of demographics, are used to discourage sales people assigned to them to quit. It is a tactic used by the DMs in each division as I have witnessed. A small company, about to get smaller due to sales slumps caused by not solving customer service issues that are rampant throughout this company but, covered up.
