Here, you can get a better understanding of Sleep Number vs Tempurpedic brands. Both claim to offer the superior sleeping experience, but when it comes down to the wire, which is really the best?

Note: we will be updating this page once we finish 2016 and enter 2017, with a recap of sleep number vs. tempurpedic in 2016 and leading into 2017. About the Support Systems The main difference between Tempur-Pedic vs. Sleep Number has to do with the way these mattresses support your body as you sleep. The Sleep Number beds use air as its primary support. This bed essentially allows you to add or remove air to create your ideal sleep surface. Conversely, the Tempur-Pedic brand utilizes state-of-the-art memory foam to give your body the support it needs. When it comes down to which type of bed satisfies the most consumers, Tempur-Pedic takes the top slot – but only by a margin. Out of more than 3500 consumers who were surveyed, Tempur-Pedic had an 81% satisfaction rate compared to Sleep Number’s 78% satisfaction rate. Consumer satisfaction when comparing Sleep Number beds vs. Tempur-Pedic is based on several different categories. Longevity – A Sleep Number bed is likely to outlast a Tempur-Pedic mattress by one to two years.

On average, Sleep Number beds last 10 years while its competitor lasts only eight or nine. Durability – The non-Choice Tempur-Pedic models last much longer than Sleep Number beds, but the manufacturer’s Choice model ties with Sleep Number in the durability category. Quality – When consumers were asked about the quality of their experiences, Sleep Number fell short. For the most part, consumers gave sleep number an average quality rating, while Tempur-Pedic received a good rating. Price – On average, a Sleep Number bed costs about $2550 while its competitor costs $3370. This means that Tempur-Pedic costs about 24% more, on average. Support – When it comes to the amount of support that these beds provide, Sleep Number wins by a hair. Both beds are almost equally supportive, although the Sleep Number bed requires quite a bit of adjustment at first. Variety – Tempur-Pedic offers several more models than its competitor, but Sleep Number beds are adjustable to suit many different sleep preferences and positions.

Pain relief – Once again, both mattresses provide ample pain relief, particularly for consumers who switched from traditional innerspring mattresses. Motion isolation – Because of the innate qualities of foam, a Tempur-Pedic bed is much better at isolating motion than a Sleep Number bed. This makes it a great choice for couples who wake one another easily by getting in and out of bed, rolling over, etc. Movement – Memory foam conforms to your body over time, and the warmer your body is, the more it conforms and cradles you. This means that a Tempur-Pedic bed may restrict movement somewhat, but a Sleep Number bed does not. The middle ground – Sleep number beds are designed for couples. There are two sets of air chambers – one on the left, and one on the right. Many couples have reported issues with their beds in the center where the two air chambers meet. Tempur-Pedic beds do not have this issue. Body heat – The Tempur-Pedic mattress traps far more body heat than its competitor, but only 12% of users reported this problem.

Quality of sleep – About 25% of people transitioning to either of these beds from traditional innerspring mattresses enjoyed better quality sleep after the transition. Maintenance – The Sleep Number bed is far more difficult to maintain than the Tempur-Pedic option due to its inherent light weight and number of individual components. Weight – Tempur-Pedic beds are much heavier than their counterparts, but in general, are no heavier than innerspring mattresses of the same size. Availability – Sleep Number beds are only available in branded stores and online. Tempur-Pedic is widely available through a number of outlets. Sleep Number vs. Tempur-Pedic Warranty and Return Policies Although Sleep Number provides an industry-leading 100-day trial, if a consumer chooses to return the bed, they will get a refund for everything except the substantial shipping and setup fees and they must also pay the return shipping fees. All in all, the trial usually costs customers a few hundred dollars even if they choose to return the bed.
