Our foam is tested and certified by CertiPUR-US® to meet high standards in physical performance, content, indoor emissions and environmental stewardship. Two-layer blended foam designed by and proprietary to Tuft & Needle. The support foam layer is a high-density poly-foam. The density is about 1.8 lbs. The comfort foam layer is a very high-density foam that we created to achieve our universally comfortable, cool and responsive properties. The density is about 2.8 lbs. Our cover material is tested by Oeko-Tex to comply with their strict guidelines for certification. 95% Rayon surface content. Overall composition 50% rayon, 50% polyester. Our fire barrier is rayon cellulose fiber blended with fine-grained sand and a small amount of polyester which, in combination, are inherently fire resistant. Tuft & Needle Reviews There's a lot of talk about firmness, but it's important to describe this bed as "very supportive" rather than firm. What I mean is that it supports your weight well (like a firm bed), but the top layer has enough give to pad your pressure points like your hips & shoulders. For me at about 200lbs this has been great for relieving lower back pain, while still being plush enough to satisfy my petite wife who likes pillow-top beds. It was also my first foam mattress. It feels lighter and more ventilated than a spring mattress. I bought this on a whim, and it was the best blind purchase I've ever made.
