The name is from the Founder of the company, Charles England who started the company in 1964 with a goal to provide an employment alternative for the people in their region of Appalachia. In 1992 LA-Z-BOY purchased England and builds all of their furniture in their New Tazewell, Tennessee factory. In 1919, B.C. Vaughan and J.D. All of the posts about this topic appear to be fairly old. DH and I are contemplating a trip to Hickory or High Point area to furnish a new home (being built in NC). We plan to go during President's Day holiday and are having trouble finding anyone open on that Sunday. Do any of the large centers ever open on Sundays? How about individual outlet stores, such as on Rte 321 outside Hickory (other than carpet)? Any recommendations for stores, centers, etc. would be most appreciated! 2 destinations mentioned in this post This is a travel board. I don't know very much about the Hickory furniture scene, but one place I'd recommend hitting in High Point is Furnitureland South. It's huge and offers in-house design and decorating services. Don't think they're open on Sundays though.

You might also consider retaining the services of a private shopping consultant in High Point for the purpose of gaining access to some of the private dealer showrooms. There's a company in High Point that offers access to many of the private showrooms not open to the public, but I can't remember the name of it at the moment. I'll post it later if I stumble across it. Hi EpiCurean - Thanks for the info. How do the shopping advisors get paid? Do you pay them an hourly rate like a local guide, or do they get a percentage of whatever sales they bring in?You'll find about the same things in both places.....go with what's closest to your home. I'm not exactly sure how the furniture concierge services' fees work. If I had to guess I'd say you pay them some kind of time-based rate for escorting you around and getting you into the private showrooms, and they probably receive a commission from the stores on any sales as well. I'd imagine they have some kind of agreement with the showrooms that any commission paid wouldn't impact the sale price overall though (it probably is a cut out of the regular commission deal they have with their in-house reps, I'd think), because otherwise there'd be less incentive for you to use them in the 1st place.

But of course they'd always say that in any case, eh? The one I was thinking of is called Where You Need To Go Tours, but there are a number of others as well. I'd say give a few of them a call-it wouldn't hurt to know what options you have in planning your visit. This is my first time visiting NC and I've always been told if interested in furnishing a home, this is the place to buy! However, I do not know where to begin. Not looking for most expensive but quality at good deals. I welcome your suggestions. My husband and I will be in Fayettville and Goldsboro. One destination mentioned in this post We did a significant amount of shopping in Jamestown and High Point. The furniture seemed to be high quality but the prices were not all that much lower. We will be relocating to the Pinehurst area and did some price comparisons here in Ohio to NC and some prices were higher up here but others were lower. Furnitureland South in Jamestown is huge. You can find just about anything there.

I would check with local stores and then compare them. It is a littel work but it could save some money 3 destinations mentioned in this post I would agree that the central part of North Carolina can offer many, many choices for furniture, but don't discount the Raleigh/Durham area. There is a street in Raleigh called Glenwood Ave., I think it is highway 70, and there must be 20 furniture stores down this street/hwy. We went there from Fayetteville area and literally stopped at all on one side of the street, then crossed and hit the opposite side. Lot's of price points, but I would say the one that we found to have the best quality, for the price, was Leather and Wood Furniture Gallery. It's on the end of the street near the big mall. Not a big place, but we found 3 things that we're really happy with. besides shooping inreal store, you also can have a llok at online store, thus you can have more choice, and you can comparing their price to get the most valuable piece. Review of our experience using Carole Shea May of NC Furniture Advisors in November of 2013.

We just had a GREAT experience shopping for a whole house of furniture earlier this week utilizing Carole's services. She lined us up with a great decorator (a VERY important value of using her) from Furniture Land South who was totally dedicated to assisting us during the three days that we were shopping. Carole was also with us during the whole process so we had two professional and experienced people helping us make our decisions the entire time we were there. They were very candid about the quality and value provided by the different lines of furniture that we were considering which we found to be very helpful. We had done a lot of pricing before our trip and feel that we definitely obtained significant savings on all of our selections. The "on the floor" inventory that we were able to see in one place allowed us to do in 3 days what would have taken us weeks to accomplish. You will find that Carole and her associates will definitely provide as much expert design advice as you might need.

They do an excellent job of getting to know you, your "tastes" and your hoped for design plan so that can give you just the right amount of guidance that you might need. We found the whole experience, which could have been overwhelming to be very rewarding and FUN (Hugs at the end of our visit). At no time did we ever feel "pressured" to make any decisions that we were not comfortable with which was such a relief to us. To sum everything up we couldn't be happier with what Carole was able to do for us and are SO GLAD that we were lucky enough to be able to utilize her services. Good luck to you!!
