Assisted by Finger Furniture Company, New Tech Global, the Brown Foundation, and Harris County Probations Department, we have initiated the Mattress Recycling Program. Houston Furniture Bank was selected by St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County in Eugene, Oregon, as one of only three entities in the nation to be trained in this leading-edge recycling effort funded through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. 90% OF A MATTRESS CAN BE RECYCLED! If a mattress is NOT in reusable condition, WHAT ELSE DO WE RECYCLE? We welcome donations of other recyclable items including: Metals (i.e. non-working appliances & obsolete computer hardware) Plastics (i.e. water bottles & split foam cushions) Our Recycling Program also partners with the Texas Department of Corrections to provide recently-released ex-convicts with employment during the critical first year after incarceration.
