In the 20-second clip, three employees try to drum up business with a one-day sale by offering any size mattress for the price of a twin-size one.“What better way to remember 9/11 than with a Twin Tower sale?” a woman says moments before two men fall over backwards and send two towers of mattresses tumbling to the ground.

One of the mattress towers is adorned with a small American flag.“We’ll never forget,” the woman says at the end of the commercial. Many people lashed out at the company, calling their promotion “disgusting” and offensive and saying Miracle Mattress should go out of business over the ad. The company issued a statement saying, “We are very sorry we have offended you.”“Our intentions were not to hurt anyone at all,” the statement said. “Our staff is full of military and some relatives have passed away due to 9/11. We are promoters of peace and love. We have given abundantly to our community here in San Antonio and wish to remain known as a company who respects and loves others. We hope you find it in your hearts to forgive us. Please accept our apology.”Mike Bonanno, who owns Miracle Mattress, said in a separate statement that he would hold his employees “accountable” for the “serious lapse of decency.” “I say this unequivocally, with sincere regret: The video is tasteless and an affront to the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11.”

A Texas mattress store was forced to apologize after posting a commercial for its upcoming “Twin Towers” sale to Facebook. The now-deleted advertisement told potential buyers that “right now, you can get any size mattress for a twin price.” (GRAPHIC VIDEO: The ‘Clearest 9/11 Footage On The Internet’ Goes Viral) Though the ad was quickly removed, many users still took issue with the “disgusting and disrespectful display.” “To all of those who have seen our 9/11 sale. We are very sorry we have offended you,” Miracle Mattress wrote in a Facebook apology. “Our intentions were not to hurt anyone at all. Our staff is full of military and some relatives have passed away due to 9/11.” “We are promoters of peace and love. Please accept our apology.” Follow Datoc on Twitter and FacebookIn early December, the San Antonio City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to protect shoppers by regulating the sale of used and refurbished mattresses.

Earlier in the year, the state of Texas ended its program regulating mattress sales. “Too often, sellers of used or refurbished mattresses do not disclose that the product has been previously used,” a city of San Antonio news release stated. “In the most egregious cases, sellers have sold used mattresses after portraying them as new. These mattresses create numerous sanitary concerns and can contain bed bugs, allergens, dust mite feces, mold spores and bodily fluids.” San Antonio mattress sellers now are required to have properly cleaned used mattresses, register with the city and display a sign in their store that notifies customers they sell refurbished mattresses. Mattresses will have a tag that identifies it as used and cleaned. Sellers also must have buyers sign a document acknowledging they understand they are buying a used mattress. The International Sleep Products Association supported this ordinance. “Customers should be properly informed of whether the product they are buying has been previously used and, if so, it has been properly sanitized,” said Chris Hudgins, ISPA vice president of government relations and policy.

“This ordinance will revive these important protections for San Antonio’s citizens.” sports equipment and guns for sale $500, Newer sofa for sale $10, Dog crate trays for sale $180, Full Size Plush Pillowtop Mattress Set $599, living room sofa love $599, living room sofa set red $4,000, Turkish Queen Bed with Canopy $499, living room sectional Milano Camel Set $699, living room sectional black red, or white $1,599, living room OVAL SOFA $12, Chairs for sale $399, Futon & Functional Convertible Sofa Bed Sleepers & Mattresses - Free Nationwide Shipping $350, California King MattressWell this is about the worst thing we have ever seen. It’s absolutely disgusting, and everyone involved should be completely ashamed of themselves. The San Antonio Miracle Mattress store put out the following ad mocking 9/11 in a lame attempt to try and sell mattresses: Just watching that makes us sick to our stomach. Thousands of innocent people lost their lives on that day during the worst terrorist attack in American History and these idiots are trying to use it to make a buck.

For what it’s worth, after some social media backlash, the story did attempt an apology:We are very sorry we have offended you. Our intentions were not to hurt anyone at all. Our staff is full of military and some relatives have passed away due to 9/11. Please accept our apology,” The sort of apology said. Many of the comments do not accept their apology. One commentator pointed out it wasn’t really an apology, “You’re sorry you offended me? That’s not an apology I accept. Apologizing for creating it in the first place would be a start. Admitting you were WRONG for creating it is another step. There will never be an appropriate time to mock 9/11, and to do it to promote mattress sales?! Are you kidding me? Have some self respect,” she said. Later the Miracle Mattress corporate office posted a slightly more appropriate apology. “An Apology to All the Victims and Families of 9/11 from Miracle Mattress,” the release started. “I am Mike Bonnanno, Owner of Miracle Mattress.

Today, I was made aware of a social media video produced by our San Antonio team highlight a promotional sale using the upcoming 9/11 Anniversary as the incentive. The video was posted on Facebook without my knowledge or approval from our corporate office in Houston. I say this unequivocally, with sincere regret: the video is tasteless and an affront to the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11. Furthermore, it disrespects the families who lost their loved ones and continue to struggle with the pain of this tragedy every day of their lives. All I can say is I am deeply sorry and on behalf of the entire Miracle Mattress family. I accept responsibility for this thoughtless and crude advertisement and will immediately hold my employees accountable for this serious lapse of decency. I am disgusted such a video would have been conceived as a promotional tool and even more incensed it was created and posted on any social media site that represents Miracle Mattress. Effective immediately, Miracle Mattress will review our entire marketing strategy to ensure a stringent approval process will be in place to stop this form ever happening again.
