Don’t spend another night tossing and turning in a sleeping bag or wrestling around to get comfortable on an achy floor, discover now the best sleeping solution for you while you are on the go or you are having company spend the night.Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Peppermill Resort in Reno. Had to change rooms twice - once right after checking in due to a booking oversight that put us in a smoking room and then again after spending the night in the second room which was infested with bed bugs. Hopefully we didn't bring any of the critters home with us.

They were nestled quite nicely in almost every pleat of the fabric lining the entire wall behind the mattress and night tables. Needless to say we didn't get a good nights sleep for the remainder of our stay. We were constantly on the lookout for signs of bugs in the third room. Never saw any but I'm still worried we might have brought some home? I stay at the Peppermill all th time and have never encountered this problem. Sorry to hear that. This doesnt surprise me at all. We stayed there last week for one night. Our room was dingy and dark. My sister was next door and she discovered at 1am that her bathroom sink drain had been disconnected. The water was everywhere when she opened the stopper to drain the sink. Her room was equally dingy and un-appealing. The hotel is like walking through a smoke stack, even on our non smoking floor. Having stayed there a number of times I do not believe a word of these posts from first time posters (Trolls?) Funny im hearing that, seeing that Peppermill is spening $400 Million on a luxury expansion and next year will gut their hotel tower and completely remodel all rooms, i would suggest trying the Peppermill again next year.

I can't comment about the accuracy of this particular post (but note, this is not someone who obviously joined just for the purpose of posting this review dissing the hotel - the giveaway for a real troll - since the "joined" date is May but the review is posted months later). In my experience, people tend to post for the first time (other than asking questions) if they are either very happy or very unhappy with an experience, and this obviously was a "very unhappy" time. As to bedbugs specifically - keep in mind that they most likely will have arrived, and perhaps recently, on someone's luggage (hence, the very reasonable apprehension that the OP may have taken some home). I would be concerned about the hotel's diligence on hygiene issues, however, if the staff did not take the appropriate steps to ensure that moving the OP to another room did not start a new site of infestation - spreading them from one room to the next, through some "passengers" on the luggage that was moved.

I have read several places that it's really hard to get rid of bedbugs as they don't respond to just generic "bug sprays," but I wholeheartedly agree that the hotel has to take immediate and effective steps. To mkt18: did you ask the hotel to refund at least one of those nights? If so, how did they respond? And could you tell whether they did anything in moving your luggage to minimize the chance of spreading the problem, or did they just move you and let you and others take their chances?Sorry, I didn't notice that the original post date was in fact in May, and this thread has only just been revived. So, perhaps the doubts were warranted. If this was accurate, however, I still would like to know what the hotel did to try to minimize the spread of the problem. -:- Message from TripAdvisor staff -:-This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.
