Listed on the National Register of Historic buildings, the barn is the only one remaining in Goodhue County. The residence is a delight. Built on a design from 1861 by architect Samuel Sloan, the use of reclaimed timbers and country antique furnishings combine to deliver the atmosphere, comforts and charms of days gone by. Our home includes five suites.
All are designed for double occupancy and include king or queen size feather beds, gas stoves or fireplaces and a 2-person massage or Jacuzzi whirlpool tub in the private bath. All are decorated in sophisticated old-fashioned country style. Every window frames wonderful views of the Round Barn Farm and Flower Valley. When running a B&B we believe two things better shine: the bed and the breakfast! Our beds all have pillow mattresses, featherbeds, down comforters and pillows covered by luxury linens. It is like sleeping on a cloud! Our breakfasts are wonderful and huge! You need to wear your pants with the elastic waists! Every breakfast starts with our fresh out of the oven hot homemade bread (bread is the third B in Round Barn Farm B&B&B!) along with the fruit course. That is followed by a main course and then dessert. You will not be hungry for lunch when you stay at the Round Barn Farm! All couples go home with a loaf of our signature Round Barn Farm buttermilk bread where the loaf looks like the round barn!
After breakfast we tour everyone through the famous Dammon Round Barn and tell all the stories about the barn and the families that have lived here. It is a truly remarkable structure with a fascinating history. If you spend your day at the Round Barn Farm, rural relaxation and pleasures are yours. Stroll the paths winding through our 35 acres around fields and up the wooded bluff. The re-opened tractor path takes you up through the woods where you can see Lake Pepin in the distance through an opening in the forest canopy. Watch for deer, ruffed grouse and wild turkeys as you walk to the top of the bluff. Log benches provide places to rest and visit along the way. Summer will find you on the swing in the old oak tree or picking ripe wild blackberries in the east field. Take a refreshing complementary drink and a book out to the gazebo to enjoy! Or experience the fun of a flashlight walk on a July night and be amazed at the "Christmas lights display" of fireflies! Fall may find youu picking apples off our trees.
We gladly share our Round Barn Farm applesauce recipe. Join other guests around a crackling campfire in the evening. Snowshoes are available for use on the farm paths during snowy months. And,of course, you are always welcome to explare the round barn. From May through October on weekends, join Robin at the wood-fired outdoor bread oven and participate in the bread baking! It was fun meeting the other couples and breakfast was wonderful. We plan on making this a yearly get away! on January 31, 2017 We enjoyed the Moondance. We're not B & B people, so we were not used to the intimacy of the situation. But the hosts were very warm and helpful. The rooms were adorable and cozy. The breakfasts were truly gourmet. on January 25, 2017 jan 2017 just got home from this beautiful home, and had to write. we had the place to ourself, and was excellent. they made us feel welcome and free to do anything we wanted. felt very comfortable . didnt feel like we had to tip toe around.food was excellent. on time .we will be going back in summer. We found the room online in a google search. The price was right and the location was great for a quick trip away from Minneapolis to enjoy the nice winter weather. When we got there the house was beautiful and the room was comfy. The owners helped us find a place for dinner and the breakfast they served was delicious. This is an anniversary event for me. The house is Majestic, the rooms are era-perfect with the combination of necessary plumbing upgrades, Mike is a most gracious host, Pat is very engaging, the Poolies are a treat! Cozy, historic B & B on December 22, 2016 The house was lovely, with some amazing historic details. It was decorated in a beautiful and somewhat quirky way for Christmas. The hostess was friendly and informative and seemed to genuinely care that we enjoyed ourselves. The room was spacious and well-appointed - comfy bed, electric fireplace, large jetted tub. The Sheldon Theatre was close enough to walk to, even though the weather was brutally cold.
The hostess provided some hors d'oeuvres and wine the evening we checked in, which was enough for me to forego dinner. (It was not quite enough food to sustain my husband for the evening, however.) The breakfast had plenty of good, hearty food - including spiced grapefruit, chocolate chip banana bread, Dutch baby, ham, and a raspberry tart for dessert. It has only been a week since our stay, and we are already talking about going back. Great place to get away! on November 09, 2016 We went to Redwing for a concert at the Sheldon Theater. Being able to walk to the theater was a plus not to mention what a great place the Moondance is. Our hosting couple were wonderful as well. Thanks Mike & Chris! Had a great time, very relaxing, great food, always plenty of coffee and snacks during the day. on September 25, 2016 The Moondance Inn B&B, is awesome, it’s a magical walk back in time! We were so impressed with the care taken to keep the house as close to its original state as possible. Mike & Chris, were gracious hosts! Their Pulli dog was a wonderful greeter too, a real charmer. This spacious room features a 4 poster king size bed, private bath with two-person whirlpool, fireplace, central AC, and two plush leather arm chairs for reading. There are views of the surrounding bluff country. Light and airy describes this room. There are beautiful views of the surrounding bluff country. An antique queen size bed and Eastlake bedroom set decorate the room. Also included is a private bath with two person whirlpool, fireplace, and central AC. Vibrant colors, satin curtains, and a luxurious wall covering create the gypsy atmosphere. The European bedroom set is from 1900 with a queen size bed. There is a private bath with two person whirlpool, fireplace,and central AC.
There is a view of one of our beautiful gardens. This room embrace the Art Nouveau style with a beautiful Italian bedroom set with queen size bed and wonderful art from that era. You can lounge in your two person whirlpool and watch the fire in your fireplace. There is also a private bath and central AC. A perfect view of barn bluff can be seen from this room. The Garden Suite is very private and consists of three separate rooms. First is the bedroom which has a comfortable queen size oak bed from the 1890's. There is a sitting area with fireplace and a good view of our gardens. The second room is the two person whirlpool room with an original tin ceiling.
