Electric Vehicles (EVs) Test-Bed EMA and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) co-lead a multi-agency EV taskforce to determine the feasibility of using EVs in Singapore. Launched in June 2011, the EV test-bed aims to assess the performance of EVs and the ease of charging under Singapore’s urbanised environment and road conditions. A twin Hilton deluxe room can accomodate 3 adults max and is available to reserve for our family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids. It says there is either a double double (???) bed or twin beds. Has anyone stayed at Hilton Trafalgar and can explain these bed sizes to me? I've asked them directly but the one central email address replied saying they've asked the hotel to reply directly to me instead - which they obviously haven't. Speaking of Hilton Trafalgar - I'm still debating between this and the Citadines Prestige Trafalgar. Location is obviously not an issue and I'm aware of the size difference but I can't decide which property to choose. Any idea which is better maintained?

One destination mentioned in this post Twin beds are usually 2 single beds each 3'6" wide. Double bed is one bed 4'6" wide for two people to share. Not sure what a "double double" bed is. Surely, single beds are normally 2'6" wide? A standard UK single bed is 3' wide (2'6" would be a "small single") Edited: 30 September 2013, 10:50 The way I would read this is: double double = 2 double beds twin beds = one double + 2 single beds I realise they only say twin beds and do not mention a double but given they are prepared to accomodate 4 of you, I can't see another way. Personally, I would pick up the phone and call them to get clarification and ensure they can accommodate your needs. And speaking of making calls, perhaps you can answer this. I see you are in Singapore and I've noticed people from Singapore and on TA, don't like to make phone calls claiming they are too expensive. Do you not have those cheap calling cards that are available (it seems) everywhere else in the world to make cheap overseas calls?

"twin beds = one double + 2 single beds" Twin beds usually means two single beds, not a double and two singles. Rooms with a double and two singles do exist in the UK but would normally be marketed as something like a "family room". >> Twin beds usually means two single beds, not a double and two singles. Did you not bother to read the following sentence I wrote? I really wish hotels would give measurements for beds. 4 foot 6 used to be a standard UK double but is only 6 foot long and nowmseems a bit small to me. 5 foot is now quite common and usually a bit longer, I think 6 foot six ( could be the same as 140 x 200 cm?) This makes a significant difference IMO. Certainly many couples I know prefer the larger size. Have to say the bed thing really confused me. I have never heard of a twin bed in a hotel in the states. Even in our city hotels it may be only one queen bed but have not seen two twins anywhere. Maybe they have them but not the chain type hotels.

Why not email the hotel and ask them what they mean? And if you don't like duvets, ask them if they can provide sheets and blankets as well! That's because, generally speaking, hotel rooms are smaller in Europe than North America. Even the most basic motels over there seem to have two queen beds. Here you tend to get one double (king if you're lucky) or twin beds. All part of the joy of travel ! On the same basis, don't go looking for ice machines in UK hotels, they're as rare as hens teeth. 4 Days in London Quad Rm in Budget/Mid-range Hotel w near Hyde Park If you had 3 lazy days in the UK....
