Donate to Habitat for Humanity ReStores of Palm Beach CountyPalm Beach Gardens is a relatively new city, incorporated in 1959.

With over 30% of the city given over to green parks and recreational space around the Gardens Mall and the PGA Headquarters, Palm Beach Gardens is clearly like no other city in America. This Signature Community boasts an environment of excellence where families, businessmen and retirees can enjoy a remarkable quality of life. Palm Beach Gardens A little History In 1954, insurance magnate John D MacArthur rolled into town, intent on finding a good place in the sun to put down roots and invest his fortune. He settled in exclusive Palm Beach, founded in the early 1900s by railway tycoon Henry Morrison Flagler, no doubt one of MacArthur’s early role models. Not one to do things by halves, MacArthur snapped up 2,600 acres of land occupied only by gators, pine forests and cattle ranches at the time, and drew up some suitably large-scale plans to match. This flamboyant entrepreneur reputedly ran his burgeoning Florida empire from a table in the Colonnades Beach Hotel with views from his “office” of the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Worth Lagoon.

The result was the planned city of Palm Beach Gardens, the epitome of luxury living in a sunny climate within easy reach of sand and sea. MacArthur’s dream was to create a garden city for 55,000 discerning residents. His love of nature inspired him to plan much of the construction around established trees, including transplanting enormous banyan trees which can still be seen in the community. He planned avenues lined with flowering greenery and sculpted terrain featuring mature pines and shade trees. His vision paid off with the wonderful legacy that is Palm Beach Gardens today. This modern city offers an enviable lifestyle to its more than 48,000 population, which enjoys a higher-than-average median income. Great shopping is a pleasure in the well-tended landscaping at the Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens and at the Green Market. The city has many public K-12 primary and secondary schools along with higher education opportunities at the local satellite campus for the Palm Beach Community College and the nearby Palm Beach Atlantic University.

You’ll find lush landscaped gated communities, many with lake views, are popular within Palm Beach Gardens along with Country Club communities such as Ballen Isles, Mirasol, Frenchman’s Reserve, Old Palm, Eastpointe, Old Marsh and Frenchman’s Creek. Whether you’re in the market for patio homes, Mediterranean style villas, town houses or a designer home with golf or waterfront views, Palm Beach Gardens will blow you away with its exceptional choice of style, quality and design. Of course, Palm Beach Gardens is a mecca for golfers with many quality golf courses, and tournaments. In fact, some of the best golfers in the world like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy compete in the Honda Classic every March at the PGA National, located right in Palm Beach Gardens. If golf is not your cup of tea, Palm Beach Gardens has plenty more to offer. The Loxahatchee Nature Preserve and the nearby John D MacArthur State Park offer nature trails and birdspotting. Take time out to go boating and sailing from Loggerhead Marina, Old Port Cove and SoverelHarbour.
