Mattresses and Sex Comparison Mattresses and (Back) Pain Research Mattress Warranties: What You Should Know Buying a Mattress Online: What You Should Know Returning a Mattress: What You Should Know Mattress Buyer's Guide For Large, Heavy Persons Mattresses > Aireloom Mattress Reviews Aireloom / Kluft Innerspring Mattress Review & Ratings Based on 48 Consumer Experiences Gathered From 17 Sources THE GOOD: Many models highly luxurious. THE BAD: Above-average price • questionable durability / longevity (as is true for innerspring beds overall) • heavy. THE MATTRESS: Aireloom / Kluft mattresses tend to be 12-16 inches thick. The comfort layer can include some or all of the following: regular foam, memory foam, talalay latex, cashmere, cotton, wool. Support is provided by pocket coils. Some models are adjustable base friendly. THE COMPETITION: Other mid- to luxury-level innerspring mattresses. Compare Aireloom to other brands in the mattress comparison.

THE RETAILERS: Major Aireloom / Kluft retailers include Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Raymour & Flanigan (East Coast U.S.), and Sit 'n Sleep (West Coast U.S.). Aireloom / Kluft Mattress Ratings The ratings – based on 48 consumer reviews gathered using an unbiased, accurate methodology – show how Aireloom / Kluft mattresses compare to the average mattress. Aireloom / Kluft mattresses overall have 75% owner satisfaction. About 20% of owners report that their Aireloom / Kluft mattress sagged and or developed body indentations / sink holes within three years of ownership. This rate is better than that for innerspring mattresses overall (24%) but worse than the rate for all mattresses overall (14%). Prices range from $1300-$7500+ depending on size and model with the average queen costing about $2500 – not including a foundation. At least 20% of owners question whether their Aireloom / Kluft mattress is worth the price. Many less expensive beds are available that have similar or better owner satisfaction.

Firmness ranges mostly from firm to medium-soft depending on the model. For the more expensive models especially (due mainly to their higher coil count), support tends to be better than average. Sagging of the bed especially can cause at least some discomfort and back pain, report about 10% of owners. (See mattresses and pain relief for general analysis.) The beds perform somewhat above average in regard to keeping movement isolated so it does not disturb one's partner. No initial odor / off gassing There are limited reports of significant and persistent off gassing. About 7% of owners report that their acts as a heat trap to an uncomfortable extent. Easy to move on Softer models and or those with two inches or more of memory foam may offer some resistance to movement. The mattresses tend to have both the thickness and strength to be suited for people over 240 lbs. The above average tallness of the mattresses may make ingress / egress difficult for shorter people.

Mostly effective edge support is provided by foam perimeter rails. Sagging can result in intimate activities being uncomfortable and difficult to perform. (See mattresses and sex for general analysis). About 5% of owners say their mattress at least occasionally makes some noise. Short break in period Break-in time may be somewhat longer than average. Easy to lift, handle, move Weight ranges from 60 to nearly 200 lbs depending on size and model; the average Aireloom / Kluft queen weighs about 150 lbs. This weight can make the mattresses onerous to lift, handle and move. Aireloom / Kluft beds have a one-sided, no flip design. Rotating the mattress (head to foot) two or more times per year may be needed to prevent or minimize sagging. Given the weight of the mattress, this may be difficult to do especially for one person. Aireloom / Kluft Company Ratings The ratings below – based on consumer experiences and the evaluation of Sleep Like The Dead – show how E. S. Kluft & Company compares to the average mattress manufacturer.

Kluft models tend to have a 10-year nonprorated warranty, while most Aireloom models have a 20- or 25-year, 10-year nonprorated warranty. (See mattress warranties: what you should know.) Customer service does not appear to be a clear strength of the company. Aireloom / Kluft's claims about its mattresses tend to be factual, substantiated and reflective of customer experience. Material and design specifications are often provided, but layer thickness is often absent. The disclosing of specifications allows consumers to know what they are paying for and helps them to comparison shop. Aireloom mattresses have been made since the 1940s; in 2004, E. S. Kluft & Company purchased Aireloom. Better Business Bureau rating E. S. Kluft & Company, LLC which owns Aireloom has an "A+" with the BBB. The company has had 10 complaints filed against it in the past three years. This number is about average for a mattress company of its size. SLTD (Sleep Like The Dead) company rating of "B-" for Aireloom / Kluft is determined by averaging the above company ratings.

This rate is significantly above average compared to innerspring beds overall (64%) and slightly above average compared to all beds overall (73%) which includes innerspring, foam, latex, air, futon. Available owner experience data is inconclusive as to whether there is significant difference in satisfaction among the various Aireloom / Kluft mattress models.
