The woman fell asleep and awoke to find the taxi stopped in Summer Hill and the taxi driver allegedly indecently assaulting her, before she ran from the vehicle.Police from Ashfield Local Area Command were patrolling and came to her aid after hearing her screams for help.An investigation was commenced and following a public appeal for information police stopped a taxi in Canley Vale on Saturday and arrested a 48-year-old man.He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station and was charged with indecent assault and will appear at Liverpool Court on March 26.Detectives also executed a search warrant at a house in Canley Vale where property was seized.A man has also been charged over alleged assault and resisting arrest offences in Lilyfield on Sunday night.Police were called to reports that a man had allegedly assaulted a woman in a residence in Catherine St.On arrival, they spoke to the 47-year-old man and attempted to arrest him, when he allegedly became violent towards them.A brief struggle ensued, in which a number of police officers were injured, police said.




The man was taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was charged with a domestic-related assault and resist officer in execution of duty.He was refused bail, to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.Two police officers were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital; one was treated for a cut to his head and another was treated for a fractured hand. They have since been released.Police have charged a man over an alleged assault on New Year’s Day in Burwood.A 19-year-old man was waiting for a taxi on Minna St when a small hatchback with four men drove towards him on January 1.The car stopped a short distance away and the men allegedly approached him, when a 20-year-old punched him, causing him to fall to the groundThe group allegedly continued to assault the man, before leaving the scene.He was taken to Canterbury Hospital where he was treated for facial fractures, including a broken jaw requiring surgery.Detectives attached to Burwood Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Council is now accepting bookings for its free at-call hard waste collection service. Each household can book up to 2 collections per financial year. You must advise us on 8295 5077 no later than 48 hours prior to your collection date if you wish to cancel your booking. If no notice is received within this time, the booking will count as 1 collection toward your annual allowance. When Council asked our residents for their preference, in early 2016, the majority of people (63%) preferred the additional flexibility an at-call hard waste service service provides. The new at-call hard waste service means you can book in up to 2 hard waste pick-ups per financial year, at whatever time of year best suits you. That means you no longer have to wait 12 months for your hard waste service, and have more flexibility regarding when to have your waste collected.The new at-call hard waste service replaces the annual hard waste service previously offered by Council. Up to 2 cubic metres per collection.




Each household can book up to 2 collections per financial year. It is your responsibility to ensure that the hard waste outside your property is placed and maintained safely until collected - even if it is moved by other people. Put your waste out the night before it is due for collectionLeave plenty of room on the footpath for people to walk pastDon't leave anything sharp or hazardous on the footpathRemove all doors from fridges and freezersDon't stack your waste too highLie taller items down (e.g. wardrobes) No old televisions or computer equipment – drop them off for recycling at the Beverley Recycling and Waste Centre instead. No business or commercial waste – the hard waste service is for households only; No items heavier than 50kg; No items longer than 2 metres; No items that can't be lifted by two people; No green waste not bundled; No liquid waste, chemicals or hazardous waste; No car bodies or parts, including engines, body panels, tyres and batteries;




No bricks, rocks or dirt; No items in plastic bags, including domestic garbage; No cement sheeting, fibro or plasterboard; No paint cans or oil containers with any residual liquids in them; No large ceramic items (such as sinks, baths, toilet bowls); Elderly residents, or people with a permanent disability, may be eligible for free assistance. Requests should be made directly to Council, allowing plenty of time to allow a booking to be made on your behalf. Contact Council on 8408 1111 to check your eligibility and make a request. General waste, furniture, waste oil, car parts, tyres, batteries, gas bottles, larger ceramic items, green waste, bricks, concrete, business waste and excess or oversized waste can all be taken to any of the following public waste depots (fees apply): Dirt, sand or rubble Household hazardous wastes and liquids (including herbicides, pesticides and paint) Please note that explosives, ammunition and flares are not accepted as part of the hard waste service. If you have these items for disposal, please contact your local police station. Some things are just too good to throw away. Old furniture, toys and equipment may no longer be needed in your household, but may be very much wanted by someone else.
