Elk Grove residents and participating jurisdictions may drop off a full range of HHW at our Special Waste Collection Center. All waste collected is either reused, recycled, processed for energy recovery, or stabilized for proper disposal to achieve zero waste being landfilled.

The purpose of tire recycling is to collect, remove and recycle waste tires that might otherwise end up in illegal tire piles around our region where illegal dumping has occurred. ReFuel Your Fun encourages the use of the new refillable one-pound propane cylinders. Reduce waste & save $! Ask your retailer to carry refillables! This program was developed by local government agencies and other partners through a grant from CalRecycle and administered by the California Product Stewardship Council. Sleep Train Elk Grove - Bruceville Rd Reviews - page 2Elk Grove residents are provided with Neighborhood Cleanup service once a year for bulky item pick-up. This service helps residents keep their property and neighborhoods free from trash and junk accumulation. The Neighborhood Clean Up allows each residence to place up to 5 cubic yards of unwanted items at their curb for collection annually and free of charge. When & Where: Annual Curbside Cleanup Day is provided to residents once per year.

Materials must be placed out for collection in front of the residence and on the same side of the street. Notification: The map above shows what month you can expect pick-up. Each resident will receive a door hanger approximately one week prior to their scheduled pick-up date. The door hanger will give details on what day to set out items as well as what items are not acceptable. Amount: A pile measuring 7' x 6' x 4' is the maximum amount of material that will be accepted. This is equal to five cubic yards of material, which is about the size of a pick-up truck bed filled even with the top of the cab. Acceptable materials include items such as the following: Lumber and PVC pipes shall not exceed four inches in diameter and five feet in length. Unacceptable materials include items such as the following: *Due to recent changes in landfill regulations, tires, televisions, and computer monitors are no longer accepted in the Annual Curbside Cleanup Day debris.

To dispose of e-waste, call Republic Services at (916) 635-2500 to schedule a free pick-up appointment or you can drop your e-waste off at the Elder Creek Transfer Station at 9642 Elder Creek Road, Sacramento. Tires are not allowed in your neighborhood cleanup pile.  Please call one of the local tire stores to inquire as to how to dispose of them.  For information as to how to dispose of other non-acceptable items, please call the Garbage and Recycling Coordinator at (916) 478-2289. If a resident places an excessive amount of material (more than 5 cubic yards) at their curb, Republic Services crews will collect the first 5 cubic yards and leave a Non-Collection Notice (tag) on the remaining material. Residents will be told they need to immediately remove the extra material at the curbside following their Neighborhood Cleanup Day.  Republic Services will only collect 5 cubic yards of material without prior arrangement having been made. If the material remains at the curb for more than 24 hours after the Neighborhood Cleanup Collection day, Republic Services will return to the location to collect the material and the City will bill the homeowner for the charges associated with picking up the remaining material.

Charges for excess materials are as follows: There is a charge for each additional 5 cubic yards beyond the first free 5 cubic yards that are collected, assuming the resident called in advance and the collection of all the material is done on the same day as the normal Neighborhood Cleanup. Click here to view current rate and service fees. If a resident exceeds 5 cubic yards, but has not called in advance, anything in excess of the allowed will be left in front of the residence and is then considered a Bulky Waste Pick-up. Bulky Waste Pick-ups are on Friday's only. Residents will be informed that they can elect to self-haul their extra material to the Elder Creek Transfer Station; all residents of Elk Grove are entitled to one free trip per year.  Just show your CA ID with your Elk Grove address on it or your Elk Grove utility bill. All Elk Grove residents are entitled to self-haul one load of material to the Elder Creek Transfer Station once per year at no cost.
