Legoland plays to a younger, 2-12 crowd, offering a mix of not-too-scary rides, shows, attractions and truly mind-boggling mini worlds created entirely from Lego bricks – Einstein's head to Las Vegas and the Statue of Liberty. The big news this summer is the opening of Legends of Chima Water Park, featuring a 23-foot-tall Mt. Cavora floating above the Lion Temple Wave Pool that releases 400 gallons of water every minute, as well as water slides and cannons, Eglor's Build-A-Boat, interactive play areas, a beach, and cabanas.

Also new this year is "The LEGO Movie" Experience, which lets visitors step onto the set of a soundstage from the movie, see clips and backstage interviews with cast members, and view more than 1,200 models from Lego lands brought to life in the movie.Biggest Thrills: The biggest thrills for the biggest kids (42" and taller) are in Imagination Zone, where you'll find the Lego Technic Coaster, in which you race a life-size Technic vehicle on a crazy-curly rollercoaster track. At nearby Bionicle Blasters, you can take your Bionicle cars for a spin – fast or slow depending on how hard you crank the wheel. The Dragon coaster lets junior knights and ladies go on a loopy indoor-outdoor adventure back to medieval times, traveling into Legoland Castle and through the dragon's lair, where amazing animatronics bring a Lego dragon to life.Over on Pirate Shores, Treasure Falls is a classic log ride through a canal occupied by lounging buccaneers and down a 12-foot water flume.Iconic Rides: One of the park's most popular attractions, Sky Cruiser takes you for a smooth ride in a colorful souped-up car around the park, with drivers getting to add their own pretend pedal power.

Dino Island's Coastersaurus flies through a prehistoric jungle of animated life-sized Lego dinos, including Bronte, a brontosaurus made of more than 2 million Lego bricks. Lost Adventure Kingdom is the park's popular "dark" ride, where kids can retrieve lost treasure by firing laser blasters at targets inside the pharaoh's mysterious temple.Undoubtedly the most iconic attraction at Legoland is Miniland USA, where famous American sites ranging from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Empire State Building are reproduced at 1:20 scale using some 20 million Lego bricks. Most Lego nuts also make a beeline for the Lego Factory tour, where you can watch the machines mold, press, assemble and pack Lego bricks – then pick out your favorites from the bulk bins when you're done (sold by the quarter pound). Special Events: For moms with children 4 and under in strollers, the Model Mom Club offers twice-a-month Stroller Strides – a fun workout around Legoland that you can do with your babies in tow. Throughout October, kids can go on the Brick-Or-Treat Trail getting candy and snacks around the park.

On Saturday nights, there's also a costume contest and fireworks. Holiday Snow Days at Legoland means the nightly lighting of the world's largest Lego Christmas tree, as well tubing, caroling, a holiday lights show, and places where you can build snowmen out of Legos.Favorite Characters: At the Playtown Theater, visitors can hang out with Emmet and Wyldstyle, the stars of "The LEGO Movie," who make appearances daily starting around 11 a.m. Other life-sized mini characters do meet-and-greets throughout the day at Fun Town, and the Character Dance Party. The new Legends of Chima 4D Experience takes kids into the World of Chima, where animal warriors battle each other for control of the precious CHI energy. In Clutch Powers 4D, Clutch and his building team tangle with the evil Rock Monster in a jet-packed adventure.Dining at the Park: Legoland is rare among theme parks for offering a wide assortment of healthy food options, including well-labeled dairy-, gluten-, and nut-free choices. At the Garden Restaurant, you can get fresh sandwiches on whole grain breads such as the caprese panini, along with homemade soups and salads.

Fun Town Market features made-to-order stir-fry, Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, fresh fruit, and a large salad bar. For a more sit-down meal, head to the Knights' Table Barbecue for ribs, roast chicken, corn and all the trimmings. And for dessert, don't miss their signature apple fries, made with Granny Smith apples battered and dusted with cinnamon sugar, and served with dipping sauce.Where to Stay: Legoland offers its own accommodations, the Legoland California Resort, located just inside the main entrance. The 250-room themed hotel comes complete with entertainment, separate kids and parents quarters (kids get bunks and their own TV), interactive Lego play areas, a large pool, and a restaurant that features a buffet with brick-sized bites of child-friendly favorites.WINTER HAVEN, Fla., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Police are seeking information about a Florida man who was seen on video stealing a gumball machine from a local restaurant.
