Even outside of the LEGOverse, Batman tends to have all of the best toys. However, the LEGO Batmobile from the highly anticipated The LEGO Batman Movie may prove to be the greatest toy of them all. Chevrolet has teamed up with students from Detroit’s Cody Rouge community, A World in Motion, and First LEGO League to recreate the new LEGO Batmobile in real life! Via ComingSoon, the life-sized LEGO Batmobile was unveiled at the at the North American International Auto Show, and it is a staggering 17-feet long, just under 6.92 feet tall and 9.25 feet wide creation that took 344,187 LEGO bricks to build and over 1,833 hours to complete. The LEGO Batmobile does have an interior frame that is made of square tube aluminum, so it’s not completely LEGO. But it is still very impressive. Chevy released several photos of the completed LEGO Batmobile, and the attention to detail was also particularly striking. The wheels alone are reportedly 100 pounds each, and the entire vehicle is said to weigh 1,695.5 pounds.

You can see more of the photos in our gallery below. Within the film itself, LEGO Batman calls this car “The Speedwagon,” and he takes particular pride in its tricked out abilities to take down villains of all sizes. Chevy even parodied itself while teasing LEGO Batman’s pride in the newest commercial in the company’s “Real People, Not Actors” ad campaign. And let’s just say that LEGO Batman quickly regretted sitting in on his own focus group. What did you think about the life-sized LEGO Batmobile? MartinLego Batman Movie’s Batmobile made life-size with help from Chevy The Lego Batman Movie will be hitting theaters in less than a month, and to help promote it the Lego company teamed up with Chevrolet to take the film’s latest take on the Batmobile and build a life-size version of it out of — wait for it — (almost) nothing but plastic Lego bricks. While it may look like the latest Batman Lego set you can buy in stores in the photos shown here, it’s actually a 17-foot long, 1,700-pound replica made from just over 344,000 bricks.

All the weight from that huge number of bricks means Chevy had to go with an internal frame made from square tube aluminum. This frame has a weight of almost 283 pounds, while each of the Batmobile’s tires comes in at just over 100 pounds. Once completed, the life-size take on the Lego Batmobile, or “Speedwagon” as it’s known in the new movie, measures 17 feet long, 9 feet wide, and just under 7 feet tall. It uses 17 different colors of Lego bricks, and it took Lego Master Builders 222 hours to design, with a build time of 1,833 hours. There’s no word yet if Lego will actually release a reasonably sized set for this Batmobile, but the cross promotion deal with Chevy means there’s a new commercial from the car-maker’s “Real People, Not Actors” ad campaign featuring Lego Batman himself.DETROIT — Chevrolet, along with students from Detroit’s Cody Rouge community, A World in Motion and FIRST LEGO® League, unveiled its life-size LEGO® Batmobile today at the North American International Auto Show.

Measuring 17-feet long and featuring exclusive stud shooters, the LEGO® Batmobile from Chevrolet was designed to strike fear in the heart of any villain. The vehicle was inspired by Batman’s Speedwagon featured in “The LEGO® Batman Movie,” which hits U.S. theaters on Feb. 10. In this exciting new animated LEGO® adventure, Batman, DC’s iconic Super Hero who famously prefers to work alone, must learn to cooperate and connect with others to save Gotham City from The Joker. “To work on the LEGO® Batmobile with Warner Bros. is an absolute thrill for us at Chevy,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Many of the themes in ‘The LEGO® Batman Movie,’ like imagination, family and community, align perfectly with our Chevy brand values and add to the value of the partnership.” The LEGO® Batmobile from Chevrolet will also appear in the next variation of Chevrolet’s “Real People, Not Actors” campaign. In the new spot, real LEGO® Minifigure™ figurines discuss what kind of person would drive the all-new LEGO® Batmobile.

Don't be a jerk! The Lego Batman Movie hits theaters in less than a month’s time, and to help ramp up the film’s marketing blitz, Lego teamed up with Chevrolet to build a life-sized version of the Dark Knight’s latest Batmobile out of mostly plastic bricks—some 344,187 of them to be exact. The Lego Batmobile, which measures in at 17 feet long, nine feet wide, and almost seven feet tall, actually has an internal frame made of square aluminum tubing to ensure it doesn’t collapse under its own weight.

All of those plastic bricks weighs just shy of 1,700 pounds. (Each wheel on its own weighs close to 100 pounds.) We never pegged Batman as a superhero who would let himself get caught up in corporate synergy, but apparently Bruce Wayne was more than eager to team up with Chevrolet to help with the 222-hour build required to bring this version of the Batmobile to life. It’s incredibly detailed, and as much a work of art as it is yet another advertisement for Lego’s next movie. But the toymaker is missing a big opportunity by not turning this into an official set that fans can buy. It might be prohibitively expensive and way too big to fit on the shelf at Toys ‘R’ Us, but imagine the satisfaction of finally completing a set like this all by yourself, even if it takes years.[The Lego Batman Movie via Chevrolet]Lego Batman is ready to drop the mic in life-size form at this week's San Diego Comic-Con. In celebration of next year's "The Lego Batman Movie," Lego has constructed a 286-pound Batman statue for the con's Warner Bros. booth.
