Rare mini figure from the Lego Worlds BetaMinecraft Challenger LEGO Worlds Is Now Playable Minecraft now has yet another competitor on PC. LEGO Worlds lets player explore, destroy and build on a world made up of LEGO bricks. "Explore each World and unlock new discoveries: from cowboys and giraffes to vampires and polar bears, to steamrollers, race cars, and colossal digging machines!" "Use the multi-tool to shape environments and alter any World to your liking: raise the terrain to create vast mountain ranges, or enter the Brick-by-Brick editor to build anything you can imagine." Players can add both friendly and hostile characters to the world and customize their appearances. They can also summon vehicles and rideable animals such as dragons or horses. Warner Bros. isn't going to wait until the game's done to release it. Instead, they're already selling it via Steam Early Access. The Early Access version costs $15 and currently comes with the core experience of the game: procedurally generated worlds, terraforming, building, and hidden treasures along with rideable creatures and vehicles.
The developers expect the game to stay in Early Access through 2015 and eventually add all these features: Like/Dislike system for tailoring World Generation Procedurally Generated Underground Cave Networks LEGO ID integration to allow for sharing and uploading of in-game builds Pre-Generated Towns/Villages/Settlements relevant to the Biome Updated AI Behaviors to provide organic feeling to free-roaming creatures and characters Additional Minifigure Characters and Creatures Additional Vehicles and Pre-Built Models Cut/Copy/Paste chunks of landscape Underwater Gameplay (including Vehicles, Creatures and additional sea life) I think the lack of multiplayer's the biggest hole right now. It's fun to create massive buildings but it's a lot easier and more fun if you've got someone to share the experience with. I hope that online play's a major priority for the team. LEGO Dimensions, announced this spring, is designed to take on Skylanders and Disney Infinity. LEGO is a good fit for a building game and a toy-to-life game. There's some serious competition in either genre but the name recognition of the LEGO franchise should give these new games a fighting chance, though. It looks like Minecraft will be losing its spark anytime soon as the announcement of Lego World created too much excitement for PC, PS4, and Xbox One users. Lego World, a game highly similar with Minecraft, will be launched in these favorite gaming consoles this February 21 although those who like to get an Early Access can do so. Lego World was originally launched last June of 2015 into their Early Access program, which allows players to try out the game even if it is still in development. Those who were able to avail of this service were also able to take benefit of giving feedback to developers. Now, after a couple of years in development, Lego World will soon become a finished game. In a press statement, the head of production at TT Games, Jonathan Smith said that "In LEGO Worlds, players will go on an exciting journey to become a Master Builder, in an open world made completely of LEGO-built environments." He further added, "Whether customizing characters, exploring in vehicles, building structures, or discovering an expansive range of items, characters, and creatures throughout the worlds, there's the freedom to create anything imaginable."
