And now some of the LEGO Monobrand stores have already listed the new price of SGD$179.90 in anticipation for the new year which is a 20% jump.

The MINI Cooper (10242) was released here with the price tag of SGD$149.90 which was one of the few sets that the local RRP (Recommended Retail Price) was somewhat on par with our western counterparts (£74.99 / USD$99.99 / 89.99€). That was in 2014 which is a good two years ago which begs the question why would there only now be a change in the recommended retail price and not earlier if there was an error in pricing? I have emailed them but there has been no official reply although some in the industry have said that it was probably done to price the MINI Cooper to be similar as the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (10220) which has a RRP of SGD$199.90 and the Volkswagen Beetle (10252) at SGD$179.90. Although I can understand the rationale, I don’t see this going too well as the current local AFOL landscape is still trying to wrap their heads around the 46% price bump for the LEGO Batman Movie Minifigure Series. I would expect this to this drive more people to not purchase it at local retail and search the neighbouring markets like Hong Kong or Malaysia for better deals instead once the year it up.

Hopefully this price adjustment is only contained to Singapore and doesn’t signal a possible increase in the other regions as well. In the meantime, if you are thinking of getting the LEGO MINI Cooper now is the time to do so. Come to think of it, maybe THAT is their strategy after all! First the delightful collectible Minifigures Then the new cool Superman/Batman/Joker etc sets Lord of the Rings Makes room in the LEGO cupboard for some moar! Does that mean there will be a game too? I certainly hope so! I've always thought LOTR is such an obvious setting for the Lego games.

LEGO Lord of the Rings, brilliant! "Go here and smash this, go there and smash that. Now hold down 'B', watch you character build something. Now pull the switch, then stand on this circle. Then double-jump up here, and smash this. Then hold down 'B'. Here I drop the most awesome news of the forever and you guys want a shitty co-op platformer... Get ready to Buildbo Baggins!Yes it will be awesome! The most quietly brilliant father and son games ever made. I don't give two shits about the LEGO games. It's the LEGO I like. Look at the category. This thread is falling to pieces... My sons xmas present this year - http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Pharaohs-Quest-7327-Scorpion/dp/B0043W3RRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324044288&sr=8-1 Can't wait to build it myself ;-P I need to have a kid some I can buy Lego again.I really like LEGOs own lines. Sorely tempted to get some Alien Conquest kits but: Here's what I bought for my son: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Star-Wars-7965-Millennium/dp/B004OT8HJO/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1324044604&sr=1-1

Can't wait to build it.... in about 6-7 years... I used to like the Lego castle / Robin Hood stuff. I had the big castle with the hinges that opened out. Years later I rebuilt the front part and submerged it in my fishtank I hate the way Americans say' I was playing with my Legos.' As a child I planned to buy a load of Lego as soon as I was on a wage. Now I could buy any Lego I wanted and I no longer have that dream. Jealous of those Lego nerds who held on to that dream. My wife had to physically restrain me from buying an enormous Lego Millennium Falcon in New York with all of my spending money for the whole weekend. You could always buy the Lego you were going to buy yourself for me if you want, Syrette. Might make you feel better about not following your childhood dream if someone else was to do it for you. As I'm sure I've mentioned before, my brother-in-law is Lego manager at Hamleys. It's not as awesome as it sounds, but he does get to spend hours building new displays every few months.

Is that the one that now sells for 8-900 dollars on eBay? Could have been a great investment. Not 8 or 900. Edited by Tonka at 14:37:40 16-12-2011 In what way is that not as awesome as it sounds! Sounds fucking fantastic to me. Because most of the time, he's not building displays, merely keeping stock on shelves and doing managementy type things. @Tonka - Yes, probably that one. It was about $500 new, 3 years ago. But it wouldn't be worth $2,000 if I'd bought it because I would have built it, thrown the box away and lost the instructions! I love playing these games with my girlfriend's daughter, finding the hardest part being to not keep playing the story mode after she has gone to bed. Lego LOTR sets would be well cool. Hopefully they are out before June 2nd so I can get one for my birthday Lego fix. I've been xmas Lego hunting for a little while now. Apparently this set (Battle of Endor) was reduced to 50 recently but I missed it. Did manage to get the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar for 7 though :-D - it's the first thing mini-me runs to in the mornings now.
