It’s no secret we’re suckers for all of the licensed Lego sets the company has been pumping out these days, but every now and again, we need a reminder that Lego can still come up with some fresh ideas of their own. Good thing Nexo Knights are coming to the Lego universe, bringing with them a brand new adventure made just for bricks — and television screens. The Nexo Knights story is a science-fiction/medieval mashup with some pretty familiar archetypes — the brave leader, Clay Moorington; the dangerous hothead, Lance Richmond; the hipster, Aaron Fox; the glass ceiling shattering princess knight, Macy Halbert; and the really big dude, Axl (just Axl). They’re all named after medieval weapons except, as best I can tell, Aaron Fox, who I’m guessing is too hip for standard naming conventions in the Nexo universe. The heroes protect the Kingdom of Knighton under the direction of Merlok 2.0, the Great Digital Wizard (which I think is an actual job title at at least four or five tech companies).
The evil court jester, Jestro, is the one stirring up trouble in digital Camelot, with his Book of Monsters and other monsters that I think are probably related to the book. I’m hazy on the details, but things will get crystal pretty soon — in addition to 14 Lego sets launching in January (with more to come in August), Lego is prepping a 20-episode animated series for a December premiere. They’re also developing the Lego Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 app. The characters download their powers onto different shields, and the app is where you’ll be able to collect those shields right along with them. The shields can be collected from building sets, but will also appear online and in the television show. Once you get a power in the app, you can use it to continue the fight against Jestro. The app is free and will be available in December for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices. When the sets launch next year, they’ll range from $10 to $100. There are castle tanks. Castles on treads, you get the idea.

All of the build instructions for LEGO® DIMENSIONS™ vehicles and gadgets are available within the game. If the vehicle or gadget you would like to build is part of a Story Pack or Level Pack, begin playing through the pack’s game level and you will unlock the instructions as part of the level’s storyline. Once you get to the part of the gamplay that requires the use of said character’s vehicle or gadget, Build Instructions will be presented on screen. If the vehicle or gadget you are trying to build is part of a Team Pack or Fun Pack, you will be able to access the Build Instructions by placing the character associated with the item on the LEGO Toy Pad.
Once you have placed the character on the LEGO Toy Pad, ensure you are actively playing as that character in game, and then an on screen prompt will ask if you want to build the vehicle or gadget associated with that character. When you have advanced through the build instructions, you will be prompted to place your vehicle or gadget toy tag in the center section of the LEGO Toy Pad.
