But I think my favourite thing about it is this new Bane "mini" figure that's actually hulking, and it's spine-tinglingly brilliant. LEGO has unveiled a new batch of toy sets based on the March 30 Batman movie, and they're just as fun the first wave of sets that came out at the start of the year. Up top is the "Bane Toxic Truck Attack" one, which is $US50 ($66). It comes with a big ol' truck for Bane and, amazingly, the mutant leader from The Dark Knight Returns, some toxic waste to play with and, also amazingly, Batman and a "Whirly-Bat" vehicle that's sort of a cross between a tiny helicopter and a Batman-themed Segway. But seriously though, look at that Bane figure. LEGO has done other plus-sized figures like this, such as the Hulk — or even larger things like Star Wars' rancor — but this is absolutely the best way to capture a Venomed-up, bulky Bane that's ready to do unpleasant acts of chiropody to anyone near him.

The other sets include the $US15 ($20) "Scarecrow Fearful Faceoff", which gives Scarecrow a suitably spooky helicopter to drop fear bombs on top of Batman: Then there's the $US60 ($79) "Two Face Double Demolition" set, about which I need to tell you absolutely nothing, other than the fact it contains an official Billy Dee Williams Two-Face minifigure, which a) is only the second best Billy Dee Williams LEGO minifigure released so far this year because this exists, and b) makes this set totally worth buying at any cost And finally, the Batwing, which comes in at $US90 ($119) and gets you Batman, Robin, Harley (complete with Harley Quinn-themed anti-aircraft emplacement) and, of course, the Batwing itself: Basically, please begin forming an orderly queue between now and the end of time itself as LEGO decides to suck all of your pocket change out of your wallets. These new LEGO Batman sets are due to hit shelves later this year. Australian pricing has not yet been confirmed.

LEGO Batman Movie taps Billy Dee Williams to voice Two-Face The LEGO Movie — released in 2014 — was a smashing hit, and its LEGO Batman ended up being one of viewers’ favorite characters. The massive popularity of the movie spurred Warner Bros to plan The LEGO Movie 2, but that was soon bumped to a later date in favor of a different title: The LEGO Batman Movie. The movie’s team has already tapped a great cast of actors to voice its various characters, and now we know who is joining them: Billy Dee Williams as the voice of Two-Face. The information comes from movie director Chris McKay, who confirmed the news in response to a tweet someone sent him. Twitter user Brent Waller tweeted at McKay, saying, “Please tell me Billy Dee Williams voices Two Face?” He got a simple response back from McKay: “He does.” Williams was originally slated to play Two-Face in the movie Batman Forever, only to be bumped in favor of Tommy Lee Jones. Many fans have long been disappointed by that decision, and so this news is extra special — no doubt for Williams as much as fans.

Williams, of course, also played Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars trilogy. Williams rounds out an excellent cast of actors voicing various LEGO characters. LEGO Batman is voiced by Will Arnett, while Robin is voiced by Michael Cera, Alfred by Ralph Fiennes, the Joker by Zach Galifianakis, and Batgirl by Rosario Dawson. The movie is set to hit theaters in February 2017.New York Public Library celebrates Lou Reed’s birthday by archiving his stuff A “cannabis gym” is opening in San Francisco Professor Steve Austin explains the science behind a Stone Cold Stunner Why are there so many TV shows about time travel right now?Warning: this article MIGHT contain spoilers for The LEGO Batman Movie. I say “might” because those of us who’ve long followed the trajectory of LEGO sets based on superheroes remember the one that included a Ben Kingsley-styled Mandarin attacking Iron Man in a mini tank. That never happened in Iron Man 3, but the set did help keep up the pretense that there’d be a final battle between the presumed-at-the-time archvillain and hero.

Regardless of whether or not these newly revealed sets for The LEGO Batman Movie turn out to represent the film accurately, they look to be must-haves for any Batman fan. First up: the Batcave. Though there’s an obvious comedic touch with the multicolored spare Batsuits, this is our first indication that Tim Burton’s Batman movies might have more of a stylistic influence on Lego Batman than expected. Case in point: a pale-skinned Penguin, penguin commandos, and giant rubber duck vehicle right out of Batman Returns. Other features, like a quick-change rotating chamber, jail cell, and Batcomputer array are standard among most Batcave playsets, but not necessarily on LEGO versions. A whopping 12 minifigs come with this one, though many use the same inmate uniform base body. And it is here we see another particularly cool Burton influence. Take a close look at the Two-Face figure. While no actor has been formally announced for the part, the character’s face is pretty obviously modeled after Billy Dee Williams.

And since Williams has starred in The LEGO Movie and numerous other LEGO Star Wars projects, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to suspect…nah. I shouldn’t get your hopes up without any more concrete information. Other nice touches on this set include the vines growing outside Poison Ivy’s cell, and the extremely specific cafeteria food items like watermelon slices, pretzels, and kielbasas. I’m going to assume those are part of a comedy scene at some point. If a funnier Batman doesn’t work for your LEGOing sensibilities, though, you can leave those parts out and still have a pretty imposing Arkham for more serious displays. Finally, and on the more affordable side, we have Batman vs. Mr. Freeze. Freeze uses Bionicle-style ball joints for a giant mecha body, and comes with an opening and closing ice trap with which to send the Bat to DAH COOLAH! Batman comes with a fire gun, because this version of him is like honey badger. Are you ready to build some Bat-blocks?
