It may have taken Billy Dee Williams 27 years for the pay off, but the 79-year-old actor will finally get to return to the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie. He is the sadly forgotten Harvey Dent from Tim Burton's first Batflick in 1989, but rightly slots in among Aaron Eckhart and Tommy Lee Jones as the infamous rogue. After being considered too gruesome for the '60s series, and canned until 1989, Billy Dee Williams has the honor of portraying the very first live action Two-Face on our screens.

He was followed by Lee Jones's garish "leopard print" Dent, who was the star of 1995's Batman Forever, while Eckhart rounded off the pack with a more serious tone for the Nolvanverse's The Dark Knight. The news of Dee Williams's casting came about when user Brent Waller reminded us that B.D.W. made a great White Knight of Gotham: @buddboetticher Please tell me Billy Dee Williams voices Two Face?— Brent Waller (@BrentOnInternet) November 30, 2016 He does https://t.co/sf1x4NtRzS— Chris McKay (@buddboetticher) November 30, 2016 The film's director, Chris McKay, confirmed the news on Twitter in one of the most off the cuff announcements you can imagine. You Should Be Bricking It: LEGO Batman Set Brings Back Insane VillainsEvery Reference To Other Batman Films In The Brand New 'Lego Batman Movie' Trailer'LEGO Batman Movie' Gives Us The Barbara Gordon We Deserve After 'The Killing Joke'As one of the best-known black American actors of the '70s, Dee Williams hit mainstream fame portraying Lando Calrissian in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back and sequel Return of the Jedi.

His role as Dent was relatively minor in #Batman, but it was rumored that Dent could return for Joel Schumacher's first Bat-outing. The role had changed hands before Williams was even considered, while some said that he was contractually paid not to appear in Batman Forever. Billy assures us his tenure was a "one film" role, even though he would have loved to reprise the part. Everything happens for a reason and now it looks like Billy will be swapping lightsabers for batarangs, alongside Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, and Michael Cera. The #LEGO Batmanverse has "built" quite a following since its introduction in 2006, while Arnett's portrayal of LEGO Bruce Wayne in 2014's The LEGO Movie was a standout performance. Now if we could just pave over the Schumacher era, and pretend that Billy Dee Williams was always Dent, the world would be a better place. #TheLEGOBatmanMovie marks the first of several LEGO spin-offs and we are positively bricking it with excitement for movie's release on February 10, 2017.
