The LEGO Batman Movie / Dec. 1, 2016 The LEGO Batman Movie: Billy Dee Williams Finally Gets to Play Two-Face A long time coming. It's been 27 years since Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film, and the actor finally has the chance to star as the character's villainous alter-ego, Two-Face, in the upcoming The LEGO: Batman Movie. Director Chris McKay confirmed the news via Twitter, where he was asked by a fan if Williams will indeed be voicing the famous Batman villain. Despite portraying Harvey Dent, Williams never got the chance to step into the role of Two-Face in the Batman sequels that followed. The franchise would eventually change directions with Joel Schumacher at the helm, who recast Tommy Lee Jones as Dent/Two-Face for 1995's Batman Forever. The LEGO Batman Movie will hit theaters February 20 and, along with Billy Dee Williams, will feature the voice talents of Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Ralph Fiennes, and Rosario Dawson.

It's also been confirmed that Donald Glover will play the young Lando Calrissian, William's most iconic role, in the Han Solo spin-off movie. Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent in 1989's Batman. As we all know, that never happened and instead Tommy Lee Jones played the villain in Batman Forever instead. Now, however, Williams will finally get to play the villain as The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay revealed Williams will voice the villain in the upcoming feature. Will Arnett reprises his role from The LEGO Movie as the voice of the titular Dark Knight, alongside Michael Cera as Robin the boy wonder, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Mariah Carey as Gotham’s mayor, and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.

A number of other villains are set to appear in the film including high profile ones like Bane and Harley Quinn but mostly lower-tier villains such as The Eraser, King Tut, March Harriet, Orca, and Zodiac Master. In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: The LEGO Batman Movie. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.Chris McKay is directing The LEGO Batman Movie from a script by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed The LEGO Movie, are producing the film along with Dan Lin.The LEGO Batman Movie will open in theaters on February 10, 2017.They say that patience is a virtue, and one man knows that more than many.

It may have taken Billy Dee Williams 27 years for the pay off, but the 79-year-old actor will finally get to return to the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie. He is the sadly forgotten Harvey Dent from Tim Burton's first Batflick in 1989, but rightly slots in among Aaron Eckhart and Tommy Lee Jones as the infamous rogue. After being considered too gruesome for the '60s series, and canned until 1989, Billy Dee Williams has the honor of portraying the very first live action Two-Face on our screens. He was followed by Lee Jones's garish "leopard print" Dent, who was the star of 1995's Batman Forever, while Eckhart rounded off the pack with a more serious tone for the Nolvanverse's The Dark Knight. The news of Dee Williams's casting came about when user Brent Waller reminded us that B.D.W. made a great White Knight of Gotham: @buddboetticher Please tell me Billy Dee Williams voices Two Face?— Brent Waller (@BrentOnInternet) November 30, 2016 He does https://t.co/sf1x4NtRzS— Chris McKay (@buddboetticher) November 30, 2016

The film's director, Chris McKay, confirmed the news on Twitter in one of the most off the cuff announcements you can imagine. His role as Dent was relatively minor in #Batman, but it was rumored that Dent could return for Joel Schumacher's first Bat-outing. The role had changed hands before Williams was even considered, while some said that he was contractually paid not to appear in Batman Forever. Billy assures us his tenure was a "one film" role, even though he would have loved to reprise the part. Everything happens for a reason and now it looks like Billy will be swapping lightsabers for batarangs, alongside Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, and Michael Cera. The #LEGO Batmanverse has "built" quite a following since its introduction in 2006, while Arnett's portrayal of LEGO Bruce Wayne in 2014's The LEGO Movie was a standout performance.

Now if we could just pave over the Schumacher era, and pretend that Billy Dee Williams was always Dent, the world would be a better place. #TheLEGOBatmanMovie marks the first of several LEGO spin-offs and we are positively bricking it with excitement for movie's release on February 10, 2017. William Shatner (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders) Richard Moll (The Animated Series) Troy Baker (Rocksteady games)The Lego Batman Movie Found Its Two-Face, And We Love It The Lego Batman Movie has announced that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the animated spin-off, a part that the legendary actor portrayed in Tim Burton's Batman back in 1989. That's because Billy Dee Williams' Harvey Dent never actually manifested into Two-Face in Batman, and he was ultimately replaced as the character by Tommy Lee Jones for Batman Forever.

Chris McKay, who is making his feature film directorial debut with The Lego Batman Movie, made this revelation on Twitter. After being asked outright, "Please tell me Billy Dee Williams voices Two Face?" Chris McKay didn't dare beat around the bush, as he responded: At the moment we're not exactly sure quite how big Two Face's role in The Lego Batman Movie will be, but at least this time Chris McKay has already confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will get the full chance to portray Two Face. Especially since he looked so spiffing just as Harvey Dent. I mean, just look at him. There's every chance that Lego Batman Movie might poke fun at the decision not to continue with Billy Dee Williams as Two Face in the Batman franchise. Well, at least that's the hope, because it would be a bit of a waste if they didn't. Billy Dee Williams previously opened up at the 2013 Wizard World Nashville Comic Con (via Comic Book) about not reprising the role for Batman Forever, admitting that he'd originally hoped that he would.

However, once Tim Burton dropped out of the film and was replaced by Joel Schumacher the decision was made to take it in a "different direction." For a while there was an internet rumor that, despite being dropped as Harvey Dent in favor of Tommy Lee Jones, Billy Dee Williams still was actually paid for working on Batman Forever, as his original contract had guaranteed him the chance to do so. But during the same convention, Williams debunked this speculation, insisting that he only had a "one picture deal for Batman." There's already quite a bit of hope surrounding The Lego Batman Movie, most of which comes off the back of the huge success of 2014's The Lego Movie. But it's also helped that as well as Will Arnett returning as the animated Caped Crusader, and the cast has impressively been rounded off by Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, and now Billy Dee Williams as Two Face.
