BOOK CLUBS IS NOW THE Shop by Lexile LevelNEWLY launched Lego Trading (M) Sdn Bhd (Lego Malaysia) is eyeing growth of toy sales between 10% to 15% in the Malaysian market as the group establishes its presence locally. The Lego Group subsidiary marked the launch of its presence here a ceremony in Menara Obyu, Damansara Perdana with Danish ambassador to Malaysia Nicolai Rugge gracing the event recently.Several of Lego Group’s top management were also at the event. They were its chief executive officer and president Jorgen Vig Knudstorp, chief operating officer Bali Padda, Asia head Marko Ilincic and emerging Asia senior director John Ungermand.“We will start off with our base in the Klang Valley and slowly expand to other states next year onwards,” said Ungermand. He added that growth had exceeded 10% to 15% and Lego Malaysia would have to look into revising its schedule for expansion throughout the rest of the country. He said despite having their own local office here, Lego will continue to lean on the strength of local distributor ALJ Sdn Bhd to enhance sales of Lego toys.

Ilincic said with the company’s presence in Malaysia, the latest Lego releases in Europe and the United States will be available in the local market much quicker.Knudstorp said they would also focus on technology through product categories such as the popular Lego videogames to complement physical play.During his speech Knudstorp also asked the audience to construct a duck out of six red and yellow Lego bricks in 40 seconds, which resulted in many differently shaped ducks.“Using the same bricks, you have created different versions of a duck, which is the essence of creativity.“This is what makes playing with Lego unique, the endless creative potential that these bricks enable. Yet there is a systematic approach to and combining the bricks,” he told the crowd. The highlight of the event saw the unveiling of the Jalur Gemilang, made of over 55,000 bricks.WEEKLY FEATURED Batman/Superman/ Aquaman/Wonder Woman 12 inch Figure - Assortment ID: 1092678 Bey Blade Single Top Wyvron ID: 1095289 Baby Born Nappies ID: 1006751 The Wiggles Figure Pack ID: 1023826 Lonestar Wicke Western - Peacemaker ID: 1022658 Lets Go Fishing Game ID: 1094270 WEEKLY FEATURED Super Spud Gun ID: 1022662 TY Beanie Boo Clip - Gilbert The Pink Giraffe ID: 1097917 Catch The Rings ID

Kids will feel right at home at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, where school holidays and weekends become workshops for productive and creative play. Thinking of ways to get the kids away from the TV, tablet or mobile phone? LEGOLAND Malaysia offers numerous options for fun, learning, bonding and play in one integrated resort. Have you ever entered an elevator with its own disco ball and retro dance music? This sense of whimsy is apparent not just in the lifts but all throughout LEGOLAND Hotel, only steps away from the theme park. As you enter one of the 249 themed rooms, the first order of the day is to unlock the treasure box in the room using clues embedded in the furnishings and decor. The treasure, which is yours to take home, makes the effort well worth it. In the Kingdom room, LEGO animals and objects are everywhere. A spider and a coronet hang from the walls of the toilet, an owl is perched above the TV, a goblet sits on a high ledge, and a coat of arms marks the bedroom.

The carpet sports a pattern in keeping with the royal theme. There are also Pirate and Adventure themed rooms for nautical and jungle escapes. Rooms are furnished with a king-sized bed and a double-decker bunk bed with a pull-out trundle bed. Standard and Premium rooms in the hotel fit three adults and two kids, while Deluxe rooms and Suites can accommodate up to four adults and four kids. A big tub of DUPLO invites you to stay in, but there are plenty of bricks in special areas around the hotel to use for the daily building competition. It’s hard to find a kid who won’t immediately grab some bricks and construct a sword, a fortress or a cartoon character with all the bricks lying around. A full day at LEGOLAND Theme Park is an ideal amount of time for little feet to explore the park and try out a variety of attractions. Families love the LEGO Rescue Academy, where parent-and-child teamwork is needed to save a “burning” structure as rescue firemen. There’s also the Lost Kingdom Adventure, where teams of riders blast monsters with lasers.

For bigger thrills, make a big splash at Dino Island or fill the air with screams on the roller coasters, Project X and the Dragon. Cars, boats, planes, even an Observation Tower – name it, you can ride it. There are rides suitable for kids aged 3 and up. Indoor attractions such as LEGO MINDSTORMS and LEGO Academy, as well as 4D movies at LEGO Studios and the amazing Realm of Shadows live show at the LEGO City Stage ensure a fun day regardless of the weather. Don’t miss the Southeast Asian landmarks made of 30 million LEGO bricks at Miniland, or the Star Wars sets in miniature at LEGO Star Wars Miniland. And don’t forget to pick up some LEGO toys at The Big Store before you leave, to make sure that you’ll have more fun times creating new worlds when you go home.
