It was released on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, PS4, 3DS, Vita, Mac and PC. The game is set around the first two films of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. The Battle of the Five Armies storyline was announced by WB at the official press release to be releasing as DLC content following the release of the movie, but WB later shelved the content altogether, stating on Gamespot, on March 16th, 2015, that there would be no adaptions created for the game. Playable characters include Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, alongside all of the dwarves: Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Warner Bros. adds that each dwarf will have his own unique ability, mentioning that Bombur can use his belly as a trampoline. Locations visited will include Bag End, Hobbiton, The Misty Mountains, Goblin-town, Mirkwood, Lake-Town, Dol Guldur, Rivendell and The Lonely Mountain. Players "will also be able to mine for gems, discover loot from enemies, and craft powerful magical items or build immense new LEGO structures," according to the game's press release, suggesting that Minecraft-esque elements could make their way into the next LEGO adventure.

There are a total of 32 available. Each brick offers a specific ability, bonus, or other feature to the game.

The brick effects can be turned on and off from the "Extras" option in the game menu. Multiple bricks can be turned on at once, and effects such as stud multipliers will build on each other. Red Brick locations are marked on the map with a red question mark. See the Schematics page for a quick guide to finding the Mithril Treasure Items schematics! Lego The Hobbit Red Brick Guide All collectible red bricks can be found by completing a fetch quest for someone in the HUB world. You must find a character that is willing to give you a red brick in exchange for a Mithril item. To get their requested item you will need to locate the Blacksmith Design and then craft the item at the Blacksmiths workshop in Bree. Once you have crafted the item you can return and exchange it for a brick. Once a brick has been bought you can then turn it on by accessing the Extras menu. Pinging is currently not allowed. - 2 years 9 months ago An Unexpected Party is the second level in the Story Mode. This chapter takes place in Bilbo Baggins home. After the previous chapter ends, Bilbo is dropped into the game hub for the first time. Follow the light blue stud trail up to Bilbo's house to start this chapter. Once the story starts inside Bag End, destroy the chest to the right of the door to uncover the key. Pick up the key and use it to unlock the door. In the next room, destroy the bookcase on the right then build the rest of the platform next to the piano. Switch to Dwalin and hit the left side of the piano with his hammer to clear the way into the next room and launch another cutscene. There's nothing much that can be done in Story Mode in the newly accessible room, so instead backtrack and take a left into the living room. Keep heading left into the kitchen and then into the dining room. Destroy the cabinet to the left of the red curtains, then build the crafting table.

Stand in front of the crafting table and turn in the correct Loot to start the Lego Build to build the dining room table and launch a cutscene. (If the characters don't have enough of the right Loot yet, wander around the house destroying things and collecting loot). Once the cutscene ends, the task at hand is to find three food items and deliver them to the table (one at a time). Switch to Kili and use his bow to shoot the target above the sausages. Pick them up and deliver them to the table. In the next chamber, destroy the shelves to the left to bring down the cheese. Pick up the cheese and deliver it to the table. Switch to Fili and use his dwarf axe to destroy the cracked plate at the far end of the chain of rooms, bringing down the shelves and the milk bottle. Pick up the milk bottle and deliver it to the table to launch the next cutscene. And now it's time to dance! Play the plate throwing game by hitting the correct button when the indicator glows. The better timed the button press is, the more studs you'll earn.
