Anakin is subsequently taken by the shuttle to Coruscant for his transformation to Darth Vader. The shuttle is represented in set 8096, Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle. It was released in July 2010 and has 592 pieces. It retails for $59.99 which comes out to about $0.10/piece which is great. There are four minifigures included in the set, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader), Emperor Palpatine, Clone Pilot, and a 2-1B Medical Droid. The design of the Anakin minifig shows his face and torso being burnt. Also included is his red lightsaber and Darth Vader helmet, which I will talk about in more detail later. Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is wearing a mostly black robe with a hood and cape. He also has a red lightsaber like all other Siths do.

The Clone Pilot has a Phase II design. His main colors are mostly blue and white. The 2-1B Medical Droid is seen in Coruscant assisting in the transformation of Anakin to Darth Vader. The main color scheme is gray with yellow eyes. Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle is a decent sized ship and has a pretty good playability factor. The shuttle’s design looks very similar to the one seen in the movie. There are a couple of movable parts on the shuttle including the wings as well as the landing gear. The cockpit also opens to allow the Clone Pilot to control the shuttle. The main feature of the set is the back of the shuttle where the dorsal fin pops off the reveal the inside. There are two latches that hook on either side of the cockpit and one latch on the back to hold the fin in place. On the inside, most noticeably you will find a medical table as well as a device to hold Vader’s helmet. Near the front are two slots to hold Palpatine and Vader’s lightsabers. The gimmick of the set is you have Anakin lay on the medical table and you push the lever from the back of the shuttle towards Anakin to place the helmet on his head.

You can push the lever further to stand him up. There are some many good things and some things that annoyed me. For the good points, the shuttle is a decent display piece. It doesn’t that up that much space so that’s good. Also, the minifigures are pretty nice. Three of them are exclusive to this set only, Anakin, the Medical Droid, and the Clone Pilot. There was also just two stickers for the windshield so that’s good. The price per piece is also not bad at all especially if you can find it on sale. There is only one bad point that I can think of which is the mechanism that puts on Anakin’s helmet sometimes won’t work if everything isn’t lined up property. You will find that the helmet and/or Anakin will be flying off somewhere. Other than that, I don’t see anything else bad about the set itself. One thing that was wasn’t necessarily bad but just inaccurate was the transformation scene. This part is inaccurate to the movie since Anakin didn’t transform to Vader in the transport shuttle but until he reached the medical facility in Coruscant.

I think LEGO was just trying to combine two scenes in this set. I would definitely recommend picking it up.
